We are open on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. No requirements except to show ID showing who you are. A person can come as often as needed. We are here to help, not to judge. So please pass the word to anyone you think may need assistance. Canned or dry goods, plus paper & personal care products (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, baby diapers, women s personal items) are always needed and welcome. Drop off in the barrel at the church foyer or leave the items in the Parish Center any time. Enjoy your summer! Congratulations to the young children of our parish who will receive the Eucharist today for the first time. May you always feel Jesus presence in your life. Thank You...to all of our parish catechists who have shared their faith with our young parishioners this past year. The generosity of your time and talent is much appreciated....to all who have been cleaning the church and polishing the pews....to all those who have volunteered to assist in our funeral luncheons (approximately 25-30 people)...to those who contribute baked goods, all help in making the parish a welcoming place. May the work you do be done always in Christ! Fr. Tim May is HOPE Appeal Month in the Diocese of Syracuse, and next month we will participate in the Annual HOPE Appeal. This is the time when we will all be asked to give our support to the good works provided through the HOPE Appeal. I would ask that you consider now the gift you might give to support these programs and services. You will be receiving more information in coming weeks. Page Three St. Francis of Assisi Parish May 1, 2016 Hillcrest 5K Run & Parade OUR PARISH has been invited to join in on the fun on Saturday, June 4th when Hillcrest Community Association has their annual parade & booster day. The 5k run though Hillcrest is sponsored by the Fenton Free Library. The parade is on Saturday morning after the 5k. Wouldn t it be fun to have a float from our parish? Give a call or email to the Parish Center to sign up. Does anyone have a truck or flat-bed we could use? We must know by May 5th if we are doing this in order to plan. What shall we have for a theme? Mercy Me : The Year of Mercy Begins with Our Own Conversion As the Holy Father calls us to reflect on the Creator s wonderful gifts of healing, mercy, and reconciliation, you are invited to spend an evening of reflection with Fr. Jerry Katz, a retired priest of the diocese as he shares some thoughts on this wonderful year of grace. The evening will begin with prayer, followed by his reflection and then there will be time for faith sharing and/or questions. Mercy house is a nondenominational community care shelter which provides a home and supportive family to people with terminal illness who can no longer stay at home. The Knights of Columbus will host it's annual fund raising Mother's Day Breakfast on Sunday May 8th at the Council Hall located at 136 Park Ave. Binghamton from 8a.m. until noon. Tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for children under 10 and are available at the door. The breakfast includes old fashioned French toast, our famous Belgian waffles, ham, sausage links, eggs, fruit cup, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk. The selected senior must major in a university undergraduate program in horticulture, environmental studies, botany, landscape architecture, biology (not premed) or other directly related fields. This award has the potential of multiple years if all requirements are met. Interested applicants should contact their school Guidance Counselor. Submissions must be received by May 3rd.
