I hope Santa was good to all of you. So far this year has been pretty quiet. I traveled to Gettysburg with Jack for his State Aerie meeting. The Gettysburg Aerie and the Gettysburg Eagle Riders presented me with checks for SAFE. Thank you gentlemen for the donations they are greatly appreciated. On Sunday January 19 I traveled to Apollo for the District 4 meeting. The District had a nice turnout. They have a lot of new members for Winnie. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to beating my challenge with State Aerie President Eric. The district is planning on having a benefit at Ford City for Allen Doverspike District 4 Director. The District Auxiliary presented me with a check for my charity for $100.00. Thank you ladies for your support of SAFE. I was also invited to speak at the Aerie meeting. Thank you for inviting me. They had a nice dinner afterward with some good desserts. Yummy. SAFE is planning their Annual Fundraising Dance that will be held at the Clarion Eagles. As the details become available I will let you know. Tickets will be available for sale. It would be nice to see some aerie and auxiliary sisters there. State Convention has been changed to June 12, 13, and 14. It will still be held at the Carlisle Hotel. I hope this does not cause any inconvenience for you sisters. We are still looking forward to a good time. Save the date of May 3 for my testimonial dinner. Details will be in the next newsletter. I would still like to see more of my sisters this year. Please invite Gretchen or I in for your events or even just a meeting. We would love to come and visit you. As always you sisters are like the stars----i can't always see you but I know you're out there. Jan Shirey MSP

124 Pike Street Clarksburg, WV 26301 304 622 7231 We are looking forward to another exciting year for the Mason Dixon Conference. This year s guests of honor are Grand Worthy President Elect Elwin Bud Haigh Three Rivers Aerie #2303 Three Rivers, Michigan and Grand Madam President Elect Gloria Mason, Vincennes Auxiliary #384, Indiana. The dates are Friday April 4 & Saturday April 5, 2014. Mark your calendars for these dates and come out to meet and greet our next Grand Worthy & Grand Madam Presidents. Over the course of this year, the Mason Dixon conference officers and State representatives has met with this year s Host Clarksburg Aerie #2353 officers for the first set up meeting. Chairman Robbie reviewed the contract with the host Aerie officers and all is in order for said conference. We are planning another meeting the first of March to finalize all and to make sure all is in order. Our meeting went so well only one more get together will be needed. Some of us may arrive on Thursday evening, and others on Friday morning to begin setting up the room and be ready for our event when we will begin on Friday. The hours for this Mason Dixon Conference will be: Friday April 4, 2014 beginning approx 12:00 PM (or as people arrive) until close. Saturday April 5, 2014 we will resume fund raising at 9:00 AM and will continue throughout the day, with the exception of breaking long enough for our annual meeting. Clarksburg Aerie # 2353 will have food available at all times. As in the past on these two days, we do what we Eagles do best having fun and promoting our motto, People Helping People. As always we need to work on DONATIONS!!! Any Aerie/Auxiliary or any individual wishing to donate items to chance off, please get in touch with your state representatives or contact Maryon Phillips, 304 738 3667. As we know, the various baskets are always a big hit. Let s see if we can outdo ourselves this year. Any checks that are donated please make them payable to the Mason Dixon Conference. At the end of the conference we will in turn write our incoming GP s a check to them. We need items to donate for our auctions! Please note due to the gambling laws in West Virginia and local gaming laws of Clarksburg, we will become more creative in ways to raise the much needed funds. Tip jars, cards, all tip boards and such will not be allowed. We are working on various ways to raise the funds and still have lots of fun. We will be doing the Balloons this year. If you could bring items to donate that we can use as the balloon prizes, that would be very helpful. In fact, if possible, would you send Robbie and email letting him know how many donated items, so we can prepare the balloons for the fun. We will need to print out strips of paper with the Winner on it to insert into the balloon. Other strips will not say winner. Balloons will go for a $1.00 donation. If you have some ideas in which we can raise funds without the use of tip jars, tip boards or that type of gaming, please forward you ideas on to Robbie or Jeff. See emails below. On Saturday morning we break for a short meeting at 11:00 AM to conduct business. At this time we elect new officers and State representatives and set plans for next years conference. Anyone interested in holding an office please be present or write a letter stating your interest.

We need letters from each interested Aerie that would consider hosting 2015 s Mason Dixon conference. Each year we also pay tribute to our deceased Eagle brothers & sisters with a Memorial Service that the Host Aerie will conduct. The banquet takes place on Saturday night; the cost is $15.00 per person. Please make your reservations early so the Host Aerie will know exactly how much food to prepare. Anyone with food allergies will be accommodated with replacements. Be sure you contact Sheila Casto, Ladies Auxiliary Secretary in a timely fashion, 304 622 3723 P O Box 2204, Clarksburg, WV 26302. Cut off date to reserve tickets is Saturday, March 15, 2014. There will be entertainment both Friday and Saturday nights. All dress is casual. For your convenience and safety Clarksburg Aerie is providing a Shuttle service. Shuttles will begin on Friday at 5:00 PM & Saturday 8:00 AM. They will be taking you back and forth from the Motel to the Aerie Home. A sign up sheet will be at the registration table and you must sign in to make them aware where you are staying. There is some parking available at the Aerie Home and additional parking is across the Street. The conferences is casual dress and totally smoke free. As everyone is aware about different states and county liquor laws there is no liquor allowed to be brought on to the premises. If you wish to donate baskets with a liquor theme, arrangements will be made. We will have 2 door prizes, 2 $50.00 gas cards. Let s not forget our Pennies from Heaven. Bring your change and or bills..and when the time comes throw it out on the floor. Let s all watch as our Grand President elects, Bud and Gloria clean up the Aerie floor!
