Pastor Ed Campbell was pastor of four churches on his ministry journey. None of them were large churches, but all of them had influence in their communities while he and his wife Phyllis, led them. The memories that flooded my mind and heart reminded me of several simple ministry truths. Pastor Ed and Phyllis loved us unconditionally while we were still far from God. That love pulled us to them, the church, and eventually Jesus Christ. While he loved us, he did not compromise the Word of God. He made it clear that I needed to be saved FROM my sin. It was priority to Pastor and Phyllis that we were saved. It s interesting how some misguided preachers and leaders are afraid of that simple truth today. He taught us clearly the truth of a need of total surrender, heart cleansing, followed by a life time of growth - the biblical truth of Entire Sanctification. The faithfulness of this Pastor and wife put us on a journey that changed everything in our lives. We, our children and grandchildren would not be where we are today spiritually had this couple not discipled us. There are many people in our communities who desperately need Christ to intersect their lives. I m forever grateful for Pastor Ed Campbell and Phyllis who loved us enough to not only tell us about Jesus, but made sure we became followers of Him. Let s find those who need Him in our community and love them to Jesus. That s what we do as Christ followers. October is Pastor Appreciaton Month! Focus on the Family has a site where you can find out things like Why Should We Honor Pastors, Planning Suggestions, Appreciation & Celebration Ideas, and many more great ideas. Below is one link where you can go for information. Let s do all we can to support, encourage and show our love to the ones who God has called to Shepherd His Flock. http:// media.focusonthefamily.com/pastoral/pdf/ CAM_Guide_2012.pdf James Kraemer Dist.
