My Dear Fellow Watchmen, Speed seems to govern much of what we do throughout our day. Coffee can be ordered and purchased on your mobile device and be waiting for you as you rush inside and pick it up. Videos or emails that cannot be downloaded instantaneously cause frustration. Overnight shipping is becoming the standard for most Amazon customers. This same urgency often governs how we approach God. If you're like me, the consistency of this sacred hour of intercession for the church is vital to my sanity. I'm thankful you share this commitment with me each week during your hour on the wall! Perhaps it s our tendency to rush that explains the impetuous judgments that we make about others who have wronged us. But aren't you glad that God is patient (not slow) toward you? "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). When I recall this verse, I'm reminded of Jonah's impatience with God and his lack of swift judgement on the wicked Ninevites. Before God judges, He always gives opportunities for us to repent. It is the patience of God that has opened up the opportunity for us to extend the Gospel to 10,000 households in East Texas over the next three years. God has provided. We must do our part! We must patiently, yet urgently, cast the net of the Gospel to all who will listen, especially those already in our sphere of influence. Engage10K requires this strategic effort along with sacrificial commitments from each of us. I am praying that the tenor of this month's Watchmen Alert resonates with you in a very personal way. We must know our part and do our part. I know you are praying weekly, but consider adding these four requests to your DAILY prayers this month: Pray for your own lost family, friends and neighbors by name as God uses you to engage them with the Gospel. Pray that more than 1,000 Mobberly giving units (individuals and families) will make financial commitments on October 30 for the Engage10K Capital Campaign. Pray that through 100% participation, we will exceed 12 million dollars committed over the next 3 years. Pray for a tremendous offering to be given on October 30 that will advance God's plans for our campus and outreach. Pastor Glynn October 2016 Alert, 1
