Once a year we are offering the children in Faith Formation the opportunity to take part in a Mass. It is meant to give them a chance to participate on a deeper level than simply attending the Mass. If the Mass times work for you, please come join us this Wednesday at 4:10 pm or 5:40 pm. Just to give you an advanced notice, we are planning to have a special Mass at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31, to pray for baptized Catholics who are inactive in the practice of their faith. We often struggle to know how to help these people, often from our own families, to see the importance of attending Mass and receiving the Sacraments. One thing we can all do is pray for them. Please mark your calendar for this special Mass. Have a blessed week! Love, Fr Bruce VOCATION VIEWS Look about you! Can you see the glory of God? STEWARDSHIP OF TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE Did you know that several very special people make it possible in our parish to have childcare available every Sunday during the 10:30 am Mass? This childcare happens downstairs at the end of the dining room. Simonne Paul is the coordinator. Mothers help with the childcare, doing it once every two months. Youth from our parish also help out. Without their willingness to give of their time and talent to make childcare available, this ministry would not be happening. Young families have mentioned how much they appreciate that our parish has this available. Several have mentioned that it made a difference to them when they were trying to decide which parish to join here in Minot. Thank you to Simonne and to all who work to make childcare available in our parish during the Sunday, 10:30 am Mass! Thank you for saying yes to God s call to be involved in our parish in a very special ministry! HELP IS NEEDED THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, after the 10:30 am Mass (about 11:45 am), to put the Christmas Decorations away in our church. It will take about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. If you are able to help, your help will be greatly appreciated. CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS will meet on Tuesday, January 10, at 7:30 pm in our parish dining room. The meeting will follow the 7:00 pm Mass. Coffee and dessert will be served during the meeting. Everyone is encourgaed to attend. New prospectve members are welcome to attend and learn more about this women's world wide Catholic organization and the work and service that Catholic Daughters provide. Our local court is comprised of all four Catholic parishes in Minot and the surrounding area. Any Catholic woman 18 years of age or older is welcome to become a member. PASTORAL CARE MEETING on Wednesday, January 11, at 9:30 am in the parish dining room. THE CODE OF PASTORAL CONDUCT is posted on the bulletin board attached to the brick wall in the north entrance of our church. THE OUR LADY OF GRACE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MONTHLY MEETING will be held on Monday, January 9, starting with the rosary at 6:30 pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and followed by the meeting starting at 7:00 pm. All members are welcome! PLEASE CHECK OUT Our Lady of Grace website olgminot.weconnect.com and our Facebook page ourladyofgraceminot to get more information about our parish. Cindy Volk, who designed and made the costumes for our three wise men, asked that three ladies, Loretta Schmaltz, Donna Baker and Paulette Streitz, receive a special thank you for their help with all the hand stitching of sleeves and hems, sewing on snaps, hooks and eyes. It was a great help and allowed Cindy to continue sewing and making the turbans. Their work is greatly appreciated!

Next Week s Gospel: 1:29-34 Gospel Reflection: John the Baptist had the great honor of preparing the way for Jesus. Through John's preaching and baptizing, the people's hearts were ready for the coming of the Lamb of God. John had spent his entire life listening to God's word. When Jesus, the Messiah, finally came, God helped John to recognize Him. Discussion Points for Gospel: Very often we get so busy and noisy that God's voice is completely drowned out. We are not always prepared to recognize Jesus in our daily lives. What will you do to become a better listener? MUSIC DIRECTOR NEEDED Tim Baumann, a parishioner and director of the International Music Camp at the Peace Gardens, has offered to direct our choirs when he is available. We are very grateful for his generosity in sharing his gifts of time and talent with us as we search for a music director. We ask all parishioners for your help to find a person to be our music director by asking people you think might be interested and by giving us the name of anyone you know who might be interested so we can contact them. Thank you for your help! If you would be interested in being a music director for our parish, please contact Deacon Steve at 839-6834 or admin@olgminot.org. THANK YOU! The Pastoral Care Committee would like to thank everyone who made a contribution to the Advent Caring Tree. Your kind generosity helped us give $2,070 to Domestic Violence Unit, $1,695 to Trinity/St. Joe s Mental Health Unit, $645 to God s Child Project, $1,610 to Camp ReCreation, and $1,030 to Fort Yates Indian Mission. May God reward you richly for your donations to these worthy causes. Blessed New Year to you and your loved ones! A KEY PRIORITY of the pro-life movement must be to expose the corruption of the abortion industry. Making abortion legal never made it safe; keeping it legal can never keep it safe. You can t practice vice virtuously. If you are willing to take a baby s life, you will be willing to do many other kinds of evil as well. SPIRITUAL ADOPTION UPDATE: 4 WEEKS SINCE CONCEPTION Your spiritually-adopted baby has been quite active over the past month. Already your baby is 10,000 times bigger than at conception. Your baby developed the foundations of his brain, spinal cord, and nervous system by the 20th day. His heart began to beat on the 21st day and is pumping blood through its own circulatory system. His arm and leg buds have appeared and muscles are forming. His mother has probably only recently realized that she is pregnant. She may be very scared and upset, and wondering what she should do. Pray that the Lord of life might move her heart to give her baby the most precious gift of all - the gift of life. On behalf of both of them, thank you for your prayers. QUESTONS? Please contact Tanya at 839-6834 or education1@olgminot.org or text 701-219-3194. WILL YOU PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN AND VOLUNTEERS? This week we are praying for the third grade students who attend class at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays. Faith Formation students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will SING DURING THE 10:30 AM EPIPHANY MASS on Sunday, January 8. They have been practicing in class and will have a full group rehearsal (for all Sunday and Wednesday gr. 3-5 students) at 10:05 am January 8 in the nursery. They will then sit together during the Mass and sing after communion. Thank you, parents, for encouraging them. Thanks, also, to Linda Glueckert for directing them and to Mary Hillerud, our accompanist. There are two YES, LORD! REHEARSALS this month, January 11 and 25, from 6:30 to 7:15 pm in the choir area. We will be singing at the February 15 Faith Formation Volunteers Appreciation Dinner. This musical group is open to everyone in grades 6-12. We welcome new members at any time. A special thanks goes to Kathy Borgen, Linda Glueckert, Terrie Schoch and Ed Ridl for helping with this group! Our annual SAFE ENVIRONMENT INSTRUCTION will be taking place soon. Parents, please watch for letters in the mail regarding this training required by the Diocese.

OUR LADY'S YOUTH GROUP (gr. 6-8) will also meet twice this month on January 11 and 25 from 7:15 to 8:30 pm. All Yes, Lord! members are welcome to stay after rehearsal for OLYG, too! If you haven't attended OLYG yet this year, begin your new year by joining. You will learn, have fun and get to know new friends. OLYG members will also help with serving the February 15 Faith Formation Volunteers Appreciation Dinner. You're invited to our annual FAMILY FAITH NIGHT AMAZING RACE on Wednesday, February 1. The afternoon begins with our 4:00 pm Faith Formation classes. Then, rather than attending the 5:00 pm Dare to be a Disciple program or 5:30 pm classes, students and their families are invited to participate in Family Faith Night. There are two groups for this celebration, the first is from 5:00-6:30 pm, and the second is from 5:30-7:00 pm. Please choose the one that works best for you. Children in CGS through grade 5, together with their families, will eat a free meal in the dining room and then get instructions for completing the annual Amazing Race amongst our special visitors this year -- the Roamin' Catholics! Don't miss this fun time of learning about our faith, having the chance to win prizes, and spending time with other parish families. Thank you in advance to the Altar Society members who will be helping provide this meal for our families. This is a family event; so at least one parent or grandparent must accompany each family of children. We'll see you there! Faith Formation students in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Kindergarten and grade 1 will SING DURING THE 10:30 AM MASS ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12. They will be practicing in class and will have a full group rehearsal (for all Sunday and Wednesday CGS and grades K-1 students) at 10:05 am February 12 in the nursery. They will then sit together during the Mass and sing after communion. Parents, please make a special effort to bring them to the full group rehearsal and encourage them as they praise God in song during the Mass. This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to experience sharing their gifts with others. Parents, if you can help by sitting with the children during February 18 Mass, please contact Tanya to volunteer. Did your spouse? Improving a marriage takes time and a conscious effort to learn about your spouse. Growing closer in a marriage does not happen automatically. Retrouvaille is a marriage program dedicated to helping couples grow closer and develop a stronger bond. You give your heart and soul to everything you do, between your work and your family. Are you giving your heart and soul to your marriage? Sometimes the distance between a husband and a wife can seem so wide that it cannot be repaired. Retrouvaille is a marriage program designed to bring couples closer together.
