As a noun A solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something example she put a curse on him A cause of harm our misery: example inpatients is the curse of our day and age. B. As a verb Invoke are use a curse against: example it often seems as if the family has been cursed.
To be cursed with or be afflicted with: example many owners have been cursed with a series of bankruptcies. Text Exodus 34:5 7 (NLT) 5 Then the LORD came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh. 6 The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, Yahweh! The LORD! All the evil on this planet comes from the evil within the hearts of un-redeemed humanity. C. You are born with an engrained ability to be bad. - It is easy for us to have bad life scripts because of the bad Adamic nature within us all. D. You cannot break bad only Jesus can. - Jesus broke the curse of sin and from that you have the freedom, access and power to break free from the curses handed down to you. 4. God blesses A. The first words we have recorded in the Bible of God speaking to humanity are words of blessings. Genesis 1:28 (NKJV) 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. Yet God also will not excuse sin! I ve lied so I m a liar IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m a Thief IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m a Fraud IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m a Fornicator IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m an Adulterer IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m a Murder IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! I m a Hater IT S NAILED TO THE CROSS! ALL SINS NAILED TO THE CROSS EVERY CURSE BROKEN!!!! D. Jesus said if the Son sets you free you are free indeed! 6. Jesus also broke the power of Generational curses A. There is the direct curse of sin that is passed down and there s the principle of generational curses being passed down. B. Generational curses - What I m talking about is what was modeled, lived out in front of you growing up. - Some have these curses of bad habits and although not a sin they are holding you back from reaching a greater potential in Christ and thus a greater potential in your life overall. Why, because they are causing you to write bad life scripts. - Hebrews 12:1-2 lay aside weight and sin that is entangling you, holding you back C. You may not even realize it or think there s nothing they can do about. NOT SAYING TO DISTAIN YOUR CHILDHOOD OR OUR PARENTS. - Poverty disorganization career choice (family always did this type of job) - Anger - Lack of confidence - Critical negative thinking and critical negative talking - Procrastination and laziness
- Victim mentality You will NEVER live in Christ's victory if you hold on to a "victim" mentality. Christ was your victim at the Cross. You are now a victor in Christ! (Media tech leave this slide up till the next slide point) - Fear and anxiety D. Generational curse could be you were abused as a child by family a member(s) 7. Some are passing generational curses to their kids and grandkids A. For some it s your baggage that you are passing on to your kids/grandkids. B. You are passing bad financial decisions, bad coping skills, bad relationship skills, bad spiritual habits, victim mentality, fear and anxiety, etc. C. But I m here to tell you that you can stop the curse and reverse it. How? 1) First you have to acknowledge it. God cannot set you free of something unless you first acknowledge it and/or want to be set free of it. 2) Secondly, take it to Jesus! 8. Jesus is as close as the mention of His name and there is power in the name of Jesus when it is called out in faith! Philippians 2:9 11 (NKJV) 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. A. There is power in the name of Jesus - The Holy Spirit is here to bring the power and completed work of Christ into your life today, if you truly want to be set free! You ve got to want to be set free. B. No generational curse can stick to the blood of Jesus Christ. - False religions o Doesn t matter if your family has been in Voodoo or Satanism for 5 generations the moment you receive Christ all those generational curses where broken!
- The curse of bad financial decisions - The curse of bad relationships - The curse of poor health and poor health choices - The curse of being a victim - The curse of fear and anxiety C. They are all broken in Christ! 9. Jesus came and died to set you free of your sins, your baggage, your generational curses. There was an anointing upon Him and that anointing is here today! I know that anointing is here today because the Holy Spirit is here! Luke 4:18 19 (NKJV) 18 The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. A. What Christ did at the cross broke every chain the devil had to bind you with! Colossians 2:15 (NLT) 15 Christ disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross. B. The prison doors are open but you ve got to walk out! 10. There are Generational blessings and that will be next week. Closing 1. The Curse of Sin was broken in Christ at the cross 2. All Generational curses in your life were broken 3. God wants you to experience His compassion, mercy and love! 4. God wants to call upon the name of Jesus to set you free. You ve got to want to be free from your heart. 5. You can stop and reverse the generational curse you ve passed to your kids/grandkids.
6. You can be set free from your baggage and pain! 7. You can live the life of spiritual abundance and healing that Christ died to give you. 8. Call on Jesus.
