Women s Retreat sign up BY THE END OF JULY to secure your place The booking forms for the women s overnight retreat are at the back of church. The weekend will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Cliff College, Derbyshire on 8 th /9 th October (from 10am Saturday through to after lunch on Sunday). It will offer a fantastic time of spiritual, emotional and physical refreshment. The weekend will be fully catered in ensuite bedrooms, at a cost of 90 each. We do not want cost to stop anyone from joining us - please speak to or email Sally Proudlove (sally@proudlove.info) or Debbie Keown (Debbie.keown@ntlworld.com) in. Please return your forms and payment by the end of July to secure your place. Many thanks. Seniors Visit to Renishaw Hall The Seniors Summer Outing this year is to Renishaw Hall, near Sheffield. This will be on Thursday 21 st July leaving the Church car park at 10.00am and expecting to be back by 4.30pm. The cost of 27.00 per person is a little higher as this is not a National Trust property, but does include the coach, a guided tour of the Hall, and of course, our wonderful picnic tea provided by the Tall Frog. The cost could decrease if we can fill the coach so bring along any friends who would enjoy a day out. You will as usual need to bring a chair. Please sign up at the back of Church as soon as possible as we have to give approximate numbers to Renishaw at the end of June. For further information see Doreen Ottway between Sunday services. Flowers in Church How much do you know about the flowers that decorate our church? Each week a small group of volunteers provide and arrange the flowers in church. There are two ways in which you could get involved. You could make a donation towards the church flowers on a specific weekend to commemorate a loved one, or for a special anniversary. Or you can help with or provide an arrangement for a specific date if you prefer. If you would like to know more, please contact Helen Jarvis on 07736 703681.

St Giles Mission Partners Christian Aid Week 2016 - Fundraising Total Here are the fundraising figures for 2016.. The house to house collections raised 1240, the plant sale 226, the Friday cake break 236, the Fashion Show 435, a Christian Aid meal 90 and the Big Event 3,800 which means that St. Giles is giving a fantastic total of 6,029 to Christian Aid! Thank you to everyone who helped to achieve this through the house to house, setting up and running of the big event, donations of prizes, cakes and plants and general moral support. A wonderful team effort! The money raised will go straight to Christian Aid s work to bring an end to poverty around the world. Thank you from Rachel Gregory From the Friends International Prayer Diary: this week please pray for the Canterbury Summer International Outreach (3rd-17th July). Praise the Lord for the appointment of team leaders Joshua Luke and Susi Robinson. Pray that they would be able to recruit enough host families for the team members, for recruitment of the cooks and team members, and for good relationships with the language schools locally. TINNED MEAT & FISH for the Friary We have reached the time of year when the Friary s Harvest stocks are dwindling. They are in particular need of TINNED MEAT & FISH, and any food donation is most gratefully received. Imagine the difference if we all got into the habit of bringing just one thing to put in the donation box each week! Fundraising Sale for the Friary The Friary is holding a fundraising sale on Saturday 30 th July 10.30am - 12.30pm at The Becket School. Stalls will include Adult / Children s Clothes, Books, Household & Electrical items Toys, Bric-a-brac, Jewellery, Handmade Cards and a Tombola. There is an entrance fee 50p and refreshments will be available.

Generous God, you give us gifts and make them grow: though our faith is small as mustard seed, make it grow to your glory and the flourishing of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
