From the desk of Pastor Lucas Merritt It s that time again Festival Time!!! For a hundred years, the congregation here at St. Michael s has hosted a summer festival. A lot has changed over those years, but each year, we continue to meet and celebrate the blessings that God has bestowed on us. Certainly, we do this as a congregation each week in our worship service, but the festival has always been a way for us to celebrate with our larger community. The reason why we celebrate with others is because God continues to call us into relationship with new and different people. Jesus was always seeking out people to share God s astounding love and we also want to share the love of God with everyone around us. The festival is chance to talk and interact with people from another church or who have no church at all. We open our festival to everyone for an evening of fun and friendship. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! Our mission statement is Loving God, Loving People and Serving the World. The festival is just one of the ways we live this out. This year our theme is a Native American Pow-Wow and we welcome the Red Circle Singers, who will perform and teach us about their culture and history. There will be crafts from the kids and basket raffles for the adults. Face painting is also returning. And of course there will be food! the festival a success. The sign-up sheets are on the table in the narthex. Volunteering allows for the best part about our festival: NO admission charge! Because of this, all the money we raise can go towards outreach. This year, the first half of the money that is raised from the raffle, free will offering, etc. will be donated to National Relief Charities, which serves 65 reservations in 11 states throughout the Northern Plains and Southwest regions of the United States. They focus on underserved and geographicallyisolated Native American communities with limited employment opportunities. The second half will go to Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio to provide scholarships to children who cannot otherwise go to camp. The festival is a great way to spend time with your family and have a nice evening out. Whether this will be your first festival or one hundredth, please plan to join us on July 22 nd. The Holy Spirit is at work in all that we do, so plan on inviting a friend or relative to come so they too can experience God s work in action. God s Love, Pastor Lucas If you plan on attending and have not yet done so, please volunteer one hour of your time to help with a craft, serve food, or one of the other ways you can help make
HELP NEEDED We need a lot of help for our biggest outreach of the year. Our annual Summer Festival will be held on July 22nd. Donate just one hour of your time by signing up to help with food service, crafts, prizes or raffle bas- kets. Sign-up sheets are on a table in the Narthex. Great gift idea! Get yours today!!!
