He w as born October 8, 1941 in the Cherry Hill Community of DeKalb County to the late Marvin and Lucille Maynard Anderson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Anderson. He was a 1959 graduate of Baxter Seminary and attended Tennessee Tech University. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a retired Supervisor of Installation at GTE with 28 years of service. He retired in 1994 and moved to Crossville in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening and spending time with his four-legged friend, Shadow. Survivors include wife of 49 years (Married September 7, 1968 in Richmond, Indiana) Sandra Sandy Wisenberg Anderson of Crossville, daughter Kimberly Anderson of Madison, Alabama, son and daughterin-law Jeffrey and Beth Anderson of Richmond, Indiana, grandchildren: Ali Anderson and Evan Anderson. SILVER POINT Memorial services for Lois Ruth Smith Anderson, 93, of Silver Point, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Silver Point Church of Christ. She peacefully passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, in the home built by her grandfather, where she had many childhood memories. She reflected that she courted her husband, John, in the parlor. Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 6, 1919, to Norman and Vora Smith. She had a long career as an educator. She began her career teaching in a one-room schoolhouse at Cherry Hill. Mrs. Anderson then taught at Baxter Seminary and Lipscomb University, and then for many years as a professor of English at Tennessee Technological University, from where she retired. Mrs. Anderson was an avid community leader and was very active in Silver Point Church of Christ, as well as Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. After her retirement, she volunteered thousands of hours at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She and her late husband were both very active in the Republican Party, both serving as delegates at national conventions. Mrs. Anderson was also elected as Tennessee State Republican Chairwoman. Her family includes a sister, Wanda Smith Briggs; numerous nieces, nephews and their families, as well as her foster children, the Baker family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Anderson; two brothers, Norman Smith and Warren G.

She retired from Jonesville Products after 22 years of service and was formerly employed at the Dow Leadership Center at Hillsdale College for five years. She was a member of Fayette Street Church of Christ, a member of the WWCW, the U-Go I-Go Club and the American Cancer Society, and a former member of the North Adams Grange. She sponsored two children from overseas.

Mrs. Purcell was first married to William M. Maynard, who preceded her in death in 1963, and then to John "Jack" Purcell, who died in 1990. Her family includes three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Bill Craig of Frontier, Joan and Neal Smith of Homesville, Ohio, and Carolyn and Phillip Smith of Baxter; a son, and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Janet Maynard of Reading; six sisters, Juanita Huffard and Neoda Johnston, both of Milford, Fla., Henetta Hall of Logansport, Ind., Alger Quinn and Jean Gish, both of Greentown, Ind., and Roxie York of Roscoe, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
