NOTES SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Pastor Renee will be on vacation August 7-12. In the event of pastoral care needs, please contact Spiritual Life Team members Connie B and Anne H (office has contact info if needed). It's a retreat! A place to linger amidst the pieces of beliefs and practices of faith that were once orderly and are now a messy pile. This is a time and a place to sort through the pile. Sarah Bessey's book Out of Sorts will be the spring board for conversation, contemplative reflection, a bit of quiet and laughter over coffee. Once upon a time you had it beautifully sorted out. Then you didn t. It s about loss and how we cope with change. It's about Jesus and why I love him and follow him. It's about church." - Sarah Bessey, Sorting it Out Sorting it Out Retreat facilitated by Renee Kanagy 9am- 2pm Saturday, September 9th The Peace House To register, contact Renee Kanagy at reneekanagy@cincinnatimennonite.org http://sarahbessey.com/new-book-out-of-sorts/ 5
Church Council is seeking a renter for the one-bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor of the Peace House. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the office at 513-871-0035 or via email at office@cincinnatimennonite.org Budget Update June YTD YTD Budget Income: Pledges $8,461 $101,796 $109,500 Offerings $282 $4,319 $6,911 Rent $900 $10,830 $12,600 Total $9,643 $116,945 $129,011 Expenses $16,925 $126,606 $129,011 Income - Expense ($7,282) ($9,661) In June, expenses exceeded donations by $7,282. Part of this was due to end of quarter donations to CDC and MCC. The main reason for the gap is the continued shortfall that we see in all forms of income pledges, general offerings, and rent. Fiscal year to date the total budget gap is now $9,661. The final youth group fundraising brought in around $400 in June. Overall, between the fundraising efforts from the youth over this year and some funding from the Christian Education budget, we were able to completely cover the airfare and hotel for all youth attendees and airfare, hotel, and registration for our youth sponsors. The church fiscal year ends on September 30. If you have pledged for this fiscal year and are behind on your pledge, please make every effort to make your remaining donations before the end of September. Please contact Steve Hitt (Church Treasurer) if you have any questions. Attendance last week was 57 with 5 visitors 6

Have you ever experienced your is-not-ness? In the East we have an image for this. It is the image of the dancer and the dance. God is viewed as the dancer and creation as God's dance. It isn't as if God is the big dancer and you are the little dancer. Oh no. You're not a dancer at all. You are being danced!" Anthony De Mello, "Awareness," p. 105 7
