On April 30, 2000, Blessed John Paul II, then Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, established the First Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. Jesus told St. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would be a very special day when all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. The Feast of Divine Mercy is celebrated each year for the purpose of providing a refuge and shelter for souls, and especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon the souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy (Diary of St. Faustina 699). The Image of Divine Mercy, which Our Lord requested to be solemnly blessed and venerated on this day, will be reverently displayed in our churches. Pope John Paul II said that the Image portrays the Risen Jesus Christ bringing Mercy to the whole world. Our Lord said, I want the Image to be solemnly blessed on the First Sunday after Easter, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it. I promise that the soul that will venerate this Image will not perish (Diary 341, 48). As you can see the Lord's desire for the Feast includes the solemn, public veneration of the Image of Divine Mercy by the Church, as well as personal acts of veneration and mercy. The great promise for the individual soul is that a devotional act of sacramental penance and Communion will obtain for that soul the plenitude of the divine mercy on the Feast. Jesus promised that The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain the complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. THE FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY Sunday, April 27, 2014 On Sunday afternoon, April 27, the Feast of Divine Mercy, we will celebrate this extraordinary Grace-filled, historical day with the following observances: 2pm - Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacrament of Reconciliation 3pm The Chaplet and Song of Divine Mercy Litany to Divine Mercy 4pm Sacrament of Reconciliation 5pm Benediction and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament PLEASE NOTE: The re-airing of the Holy Mass and Canonizations of Blessed John XXIII and Blessed John Paul II will be televised on EWTN on Sunday, April 27 at 7pm.

April 27, 2014 The Canonization of Pope John Paul II & Pope John XXIII Christ, make me become and remain the servant of Your unique power, the servant of Your sweet power, the servant of Your power that knows no eventide. Make me be a servant. Indeed, the servant of Your servants. Blessed John Paul II Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do. Blessed John XXIII PLEASE NOTE: The re-airing of the Holy Mass and Canonizations of Blessed John XXIII and Blessed John Paul II will be televised on EWTN on Sunday, April 27 at 7pm.

CONFESSION SCHEDULE CHANGE With the change in the Mass schedule beginning on Sunday, May 4, 2014 along with the addition of Sacramental Confession each Wednesday evening following the 5:30pm Mass, I have decided to cancel Saturday afternoon Confessions prior to the Vigil Mass beginning on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Over the years, we have made every effort to accommodate our people as best we can, taking into consideration the logistical setting of the confessionals. The lessthan-ideal placement of each confessional, along with poor design and fabrication, has consistently impinged on the penitential character of the Sacrament and the dignity of the person seeking Reconciliation. Therefore, the Sacrament will continue to be offered in Church each Saturday morning following the 8:30am Daily Mass and each Wednesday evening after the 5:30pm Daily Mass. Confessions will also continue to be heard by appointment. I may also hear Confessions from time to time after the Vigil Mass as I have done on numerous occasions, due to time constraints and the inability to receive all penitents before Mass. However, this will only be offered occasionally. In light of this change, the Church doors will be opened at 3:45pm each Saturday. Thank You for your understanding! Fr. James STRUGGLING AFTER AN ABORTION? YOU ARE NOT ALONE! HOPE AFTER ABORTION: Experience the healing love of Jesus Christ during a Rachel s Vineyard healing retreat. This retreat offers an opportunity to deeply enter into the grieving process and identify the ways your abortion(s) may have affected you or a loved one. Discussions, spiritual exercises, prayer and reflection combined with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a Memorial Service honoring your child and a beautiful Mass, will help to heal the wounds of your past. Participation is strictly confidential and offers a beautiful opportunity to experience God s love, forgiveness and tender compassion. Both men and women are invited to experience this healing for their soul. This healing program is an apostolate of the Catholic Charities Office of Respect Life of the Diocese of Palm Beach; however, those from other faith backgrounds are welcome to attend. The retreat begins on Friday, April 25 thru Sunday, April 27, 2014. It will be held at Casa San Carlos Retreat Center, in Delray Beach. Pre-registration is required. To register or for more information call Donna Gardner at 561.602.4778 or email isaiah61@bellsouth.net all calls and emails are CONFIDENTIAL! Stuck in Wednesday It happened on a Wednesday. My granddaughter Shannon was asked by her father what day of the week it is. Evan and Shannon are learning the days of the week as part of their schooling. Evan has it pretty well figured out, but Shannon... well... let s just say she s working on it without any great sense of urgency. So her Dad asked her what day of the week it is and Shannon said, Wednesday. She was correct, of course, so Dad said, Good job Shannon! Then, Mom and Dad noticed big brother Evan, his head lowered into his hands with an expression of utter exasperation. Evan, with a tone of profound resignation said, Mommy and Daddy... Shannon always says Wednesday, no matter what day it is! Shannon just smiled impishly as if to say, Who cares what day it is... they re all good (especially when you re getting under your brother s skin)! To a four year old, each day being Wednesday sounds about right. You get up in the morning with the same basic plan as any other day; it s time to eat, it s time to play, it s time to ask questions (lots of them), it s time to sleep. As we grow into adulthood we continue the eating and sleeping, but our playfulness diminishes and we question less, as responsibility gradually ties us down, and habits become cured like concrete. But it occurred to me that often our struggle to live a holy life is much the same as Shannon s misconception about every day being Wednesday. We sort of get stuck. Maybe each day should contain a little more Sunday and a lot less Wednesday. I m reminded of a recent article based on quotes from Mother Theresa. Essentially she gave the advice to slow down and make room for God, and to spend more time at home, loving our families. She commented about how much more peaceful the world would be if there were more peace in the home. But, we all seem so busy. As time goes by, even if we do manage to slow down, habits and routines may have filled our lives; children grown and gone; families scattered apart. As Mother Theresa advised, if we re full of something else, there isn t room for God or love of each other. It s that simple; one jam-packed Wednesday after another, and another, and another. What better time than now to get out of whatever form of Wednesday we may find ourselves. Let s leave it behind, as we have now passed through Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil, and are once again able to bathe in the glorious fresh lit morning light of Easter Sunday, and celebrate the resurrection or our Lord Jesus Christ with the fullness of all that it means to each and every one of us, every single day. Yes, Shannon, even Wednesday. EVANGELISM IN ACTION: Squeeze some Easter into every day... especially all those Wednesdays. Article written by Keith Thompson. Please send your comments, thoughts and suggestions to newevangelism@gmail.com or call Keith at 772-631-2080.

Dear Parishioners, As in the past, we are asking you to prayerfully look into your hearts and ask that you sponsor a youth to summer retreat or summer camp. We are trying to ensure that every child in the Parish that wishes to attend a Catholic Youth retreat or Summer Camp this year can go. These opportunities for our youth to explore their faith with other youth with the same goals is invaluable to their spiritual growth. To help them grow their relationship with Jesus Christ and to become better Catholics. These youth are the future of our Parish and I hope that you can find it in your heart to contribute to this ministry. This summer as a Parish we are expecting to send youth to a 3 day Ave Marie Youth Conference and Discipleship Retreat and to Camp Cove Crest for a week long summer camp of Catholic Youth. The cost to the youth is $ 260.00 for the Ave Maria retreat and $850.00 for Camp Cove Crest. Many of our parish families have multiple children in the age groups that should attend. We are trying to lessen the burden on those families and the ones that are under financial hardship due to the economy. Please consider sponsoring a youth this summer. Our Parish will be the winner from it. Thank you and God Bless you all., Your YDisciple Team Leaders, Kim Glass, Fr. James Molgano, Jacki Ottaviani, Kate Mudgett, Dave Ottaviani.

If you have the time during the week, or want to put that very needed extra-large truck to good use for the ministry, please call Michelle Florio 772-334-6239.
