MARRIAGE: Arrangements are to be made six months in advance. MISSION STATEMENT St. Januarius is a Roman Catholic community of faith focused on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to those who have built up St. Januarius to be a welcoming, active, and spiritual parish. With the Eucharist and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we strive to use the gifts and talents given to us by the Father to support the lives of parishioners at all age levels and stages of life. We also pledge to live our lives so that through our words and actions all may feel the presence of Jesus Christ in the world today. REDEMPTION Do you remember Peter on the night Jesus was arrested? He claimed he had never heard of Jesus. Today we are called to join Peter in testifying to the name of Jesus as he does in the first reading, and in proclaiming our love for him as Peter does in the Gospel passage. The powerful imagery of John's vision in the second reading from the book of Revelation shows us the company we keep when we have faith in the name of Jesus. We join all living creatures, "countless in number" from "heaven, earth, under the earth, in the sea; everything in the universe (Revelation 5:11, 13). The dignity and majesty described in each reading are in stark contrast to the dark and pitiful image of Peter and the other apostles at the time of Jesus' arrest, trial, and crucifixion. What a relief that we can all be redeemed so completely! Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

He was educated at Gnesen and was ordained there. He was given a canonry by Bishop Lampert Zula of Cracow, who made him his preacher, and soon he became noted for his preaching. He became a much sought after spiritual adviser. He was successful in his reforming efforts, and in 1072 was named Bishop of Cracow. He incurred the enmity of King Boleslaus the Bold when he denounced the King's cruelties and injustices and especially his kidnapping of the beautiful wife of a nobleman. When Stanislaus excommunicated the King and stopped services at the Cathedral when Boleslaus entered, Boleslaus himself killed Stanislaus while the Bishop was saying Mass in a chapel outside the city on April 11. Stanislaus has long been the symbol of Polish nationhood. He was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1253 and is the principle patron of Cracow. Wednesday: St. Martin I - Martin was born at Todi in Umbria, became a cleric at Rome, and in 649 was elected to the Chair of Peter. That same year he convoked a council which condemned Monothelitism. He was taken prisoner by Emperor Constans in 653 and carried away to Constantinople, where he suffered a great deal. Finally he was exiled to the Cheronese and died there in 656. We reserve the right to make unavoidable changes in the Mass schedule.
