Beeeeeppppp If you are one of our children, dial 1 and then select the option from 1 to 5 in order of arrival, so we know who it is. If you need us to stay with the children, press 2. If you want to borrow the van, press 3. If you want us to do your laundry, press 4. If you want the grandchildren to stay here overnight, press 5. If you want us to pick up the kids at school, press 6. If you want us to prepare a meal for Sunday and to have it delivered, press 7. If you want to come over here for dinner, press 8. If you need the lawn mower, press 9. If you need to borrow some money, press 10. If you are inviting us to dinner at your house or taking us to the theatre, start talking. We are listening! Grandparents will be out in force this weekend and next with proud smiles and wonderful gifts as their grandchildren make their First Communions. In fact, the grandparent in each of us rejoices as the faith which means so much to us is passed on to yet another generation of young believers. Our belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist (as opposed to some religions which see it as merely a symbol of Christ s presence) is both sustained and deepened as we witness the great joy and reverence with which our children receive Jesus for the first time. May all of you know our prayerful support this day and every day that you join us for Mass and may each of us recapture that moment years ago when we, too, knew the joy that is yours today! Love, In Sympathy We extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Evelyn Vandenhoven. Please remember them in your prayers. AP R I L 1 4 & 1 5, 2 0 1 2 P AG E 3 With Easter, Every Day Becomes New Year s Day By: Kristina M. DeNeve, Evangelization and Welcoming Director Diocese of Green Bay A number of Bible-only Christians have been asking me lately if I am saved. The quick answer would be yes, that through my baptism, I pray and hope that I am saved. Unfortunately, these conversations are never quick and easy and it is largely because of my reliance on Divine Mercy, celebrated today within this solemn, holy octave (eight days) of Easter. Divine Mercy reminds me that it is not up to me whether I am saved or not. It is only by God s mercy that anyone is saved. Saying I am saved does not make it happen. In the end, it is up to God, not me. I do not initiate salvation I can only respond to God s mercy. This is a kernel of what we celebrate today. At the height of our current celebration of Jesus resurrection, we also take time to acknowledge the overwhelming abundance of God s mercy. So great is that mercy that God actually died for us and now desires to bring us with Jesus to salvation, to share in Jesus new life. WANTED!! WWW.STBERNARDGB.ORG WWW.STPHILIPGB.ORG PAGE 5 Health Ministry Ann Kaufmann, Parish Nurse ORGAN TRANSPLANTS-THE NEED IS REAL! During a visit to www.organdonor.gov someone may have been added to the waiting list. It happens every 10 minutes. Each day, an average of 79 people receive organ transplants. However, an average of 18 people die each day waiting for transplants that can't take place because of the shortage of donated organs. Organ transplantation has become an accepted medical treatment for end-stage organ failure. The facts prove it. But only you can help make it happen. Statistics can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult to understand. One thing to remember is that every number in the statistic you view is a person, a person who either needs your help and is waiting for a lifesaving transplant or a person who has left a lasting legacy through organ and tissue donation. Either way each number represents a life, a mom, a dad, a brother, a sister or a child, someone who is important to someone else, maybe even you. Please check out the Parish Nurse bulletin board on the back wall of the narthex for more information. Haiti Report Dear St. Bernard and St. Philip, Friends of Haiti will be departing for the medical trip on April 16 and the surgical trip on May 13. Thank you for all you do. Jack Hale (920)465-0557. St. Bernard Athletic Board, would like to invite you to become a member of the board. We have open positions for Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Interested persons can attend our April 16th meeting at 7pm in the St. Bernard School Art Room. Please come and join us.
