*Opening Hymn 321 The Church s One Foundation aurelia *Prayer of Confession (All) Almighty God, you despise nothing you have made, and you forgive the sins of all who are penitent. Create in us new and contrite hearts, that, truly repenting of our sins and acknowledging our brokenness, we may obtain from you, the God of all mercy, full pardon and forgiveness, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Silence for Personal Confession In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. There is pain and evil in the world, in which we are often participants. If we ignore the ways we cause pain to God, to others, and to creation, we limit the opportunities for transformation and healing. In confession we practice bringing our pain to the light, so that God can transform it. *Assurance of Pardon *Gloria Patri 581 h.w. greatorex Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith (All) WE GO FORTH TO SERVE The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. *Hymn of Dedication 765 May the God of Hope Go with Us argentina *Benediction As our time of worship comes to an end, our time of service begins. To Ponder Prayerfully How Would God Have Reacted? How would God have reacted if, while strolling through the garden, the man and the woman had sheepishly joined God, rather than fleeing, and confessed their disobedience? If the couple had fully admitted their actions, would God have cast them out of the garden? What, in fact, was the real test: the temptation of the tree or the urge to blame and avoid responsibility? Failure on both counts: the couple chose to eat the forbidden fruit and they chose to blame, the man even blaming God (3:12). But that if they had taken responsibility for their actions? One can only wonder. William P. Brown St. Simons Presbyterian Church Rev. Bob Brearley Co-Pastor bob@sspres.org Rev. Alan Dyer Co-Pastor alan@sspres.org Rev.
