GLEANINGS FROM 1910 GLENDALE AREA CENSUS The Glendale 1910 census was taken in April 1910 by William Y. Dillard Jr. and included much more than the Glendale village alone. Glendale was listed in the Spartanburg Township census and included all the rural areas there about. A total of 291 persons were listed as being cotton mill factory workers. The listing showed 5 overseers and 12 foremen. Obviously, second and section hands were listed as foremen. Some are listed in the 1900 census but had changed vocations by 1910. Some 107 heads of households registered as general farmers. I did not count the farm laborers but I feel sure their number was over two hundred as many children were listed as farm laborers. As always, not all persons were listed. I have tried to glean the census for leaders or special vocational workers. Wilton E.
