ST. JUDE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST INTENTIONS Dear Friends: Welcome to the holy season of Advent! I pray that you had a joyful Thanksgiving time with family and friends. My entire family and I gathered on Thanksgiving Day and the day after and had a really nice celebration. I m sure we ll all agree that we were extra-blessed with the amazing weather. Now we come to the start of the time leading up to the birth of Jesus. I know you hear me say this every year, but Advent is intended to be somewhat of a quieter time. It is a time of anxious waiting. I always compare this type of waiting to that which I experienced when I was in high school and awaiting the birth of my youngest sister. There was a lot of excitement in the family but an air of anxiety as well. Starting today, the scriptures, especially the Gospel, challenge us to reflect on how we re living and to consider some of the things that we may be putting off. The words of Jesus today tell us, Be watchful! Be alert! While this is a year-round message, it is particularly appropriate during this time of year. I hope and pray that none of us are overcome by the busyness of it all and the stress that sometimes accompanies this time of year. I pray that those who are sad, especially if they are missing a loved one, may find their spirits lifted and comforted in some way. Please keep me in your prayers during this time, as you will all be in mine. The Liturgy Intention Book is now open for the scheduling of Liturgies for next year, 2018.
