SPIRIT SONG. Falling Into the Fall Season A Message from Pearl Wilkinson District President. Pearl

Transcription:

Don t Forget: NOVEMBER PROGRAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE : NOVEMBER 5, 2016 President s message Fall is upon us and I know I am looking forward to Halloween and the holidays. We have some great things coming up, including our Christmas Party. I am asking all members to attend the party and bring a guest. The more people we have, the more funds we raise to support our seminars. Denise Renault, President November is our bake sale month, our election, and our membership renewal time. We are currently looking for someone to help out with the membership position next year. Linda Park has prepared everything up to date so it would be a smooth transition for anyone taking on that role. November s meeting is a potluck. We are still charging the 15.00 meeting fee, because we still need to pay for the facility. Anyone who signed up with Mary Ecker to bring a dish, will receive a Windy Brushes Gift Certificate to use for a future meeting. Please in the future, you must pay the meeting fee whether you eat the food or not. This was voted on by the membership. It is not optional. We are working on future seminars and will have some announcements soon. Don t forget to bring a baked item for the bake sale and please list the ingredients for allergy concerns. WINDY BRUSHES CARING AND SHARING 2016 CARING AND SHARING Bettie Slazyk Hi Members, This year we have been donating supplies to Family Shelter Services in Downers Grove, IL. which are delivered by Denise Renault. They advised her that they would rather we didn't bring school supplies to their facility since they won't have anyone coming in for these supplies anymore this year. They suggested we donate the supplies to some other charity. So Denise asked me to deliver our school supplies to St. Joseph's Carmelite Home for Girls in Indiana here is the letter I received from them. September 15, 2016 D e a r M r s. S l a z y k a n d M e m b e r s o f W i n d y B r u s h e s, Thank you for your most kind generosity to our Carmelite Home in East Chicago. Your donation of the HUGE amount of school supplies and all of the Halloween costumes is very much appreciated. We thank you for thinking of us, and may our dear Lord send bountiful blessings your way. The Carmelite family is filled with great joy by your generosity. We thank the Lord everyday for the kind people like yourselves, who join us in God's mission to help for those in need. May the love of God bring to you, your family members, and friends, the same gift of kindness and joy. Yours Gratefully, Sister Maria Guiseppe and Sisters For our November meeting we will be collecting warm hats, gloves and scarves, and at the Christmas Party we'll be collecting "Toys for Tots". Please continue to be generous. Thanks to everyone who has been donating to the children your generosity really counts in "their world". 9

FREE TABLE! We have created a free table at the Windy Brushes meetings. Bring you old books and Magazines, along with anything else normally would go in raffle, but someone may want and put on the FREE Table. It s on a first come first serve basis. So the early birds get the worm. RAFFLE RAFFLE RAFFLE. We had a wonderful response to our raffle sales in September raising $170! Thank you all so much for your participation. We have had a bountiful year of really nice donated items, much more than we could put out at any one meeting! What a wonderful problem for the chapter to have! Currently, I am storing quite a bit in the garage for future meetings. Due to this, it would be very helpful if you could limit November raffle donations to items that are of winter/ holiday theme. Then, at the January and March meetings, the focus will be on Spring and Summer themes. Also in January, there will be a separate table for the, White Elephant Fill a bag for $5, fundraiser. Thank you all for your continued support of Raffles and Windy Brushes! Ruth Duebner, Raffle Chair. SDP NEWS Have you ever wondered where you can get that perfect surface you've been looking for to paint a special project? If you go to SDP@decorativepainters.org and scroll down on the opening page, you can download the SDP Holiday Catalog, which is chock full of all your favorite suppliers of surfaces and patterns. The best part... it's absolutely free. Phyllis Kohnke, SDP Liaison 11
