neunzehn76 01/2016 The rff magazine Does everything remain in motion? Change and remaining true to yourself
Editorial Dear readers, Dear friends of rff, Chameleons can change the colour of their skin. This is a wellknown yet fascinating fact. But they rarely use this ability as a form of camouflage. More often they change their colour to improve communication with their fellow species. Change as an instrument for success: I find this aspect even more fascinating. The colour-changing capability of the chameleon is not something we humans share. But we can certainly change. Just in a different way. But why should we do this and might this make us more successful? An important insight that rff has gained: Asserting yourself requires the courage for change. Therefore, the inaugural issue of our new magazine neunzehn76 is dedicated to Change and remaining true to yourself. We deliberately look beyond our industry after all, you often only gain new insights by departing from the familiar. I don t want to elaborate much more at this point. Just one more thing: I would like to express my sincerest thanks to all employees whose hard work and cooperation have made this magazine possible. Finally, I hope you enjoy reading neunzehn76. Stay courageous. Best regards, Hartmut Böttche Legal notice neunzehn76 The rff magazine Issue 1, March 2016 Our cover image: The Parson s chameleon However much the Parson s chameleon (Calumma parsonii) illustrated on our cover page can change the colour of its skin, it remains true to its habitat: It is only found in the northern and eastern parts of Madagascar predominantly in the dense treetops of the rainforests on Île Sainte-Marie. Measuring approximately 70 cm in length, the Parson s is one of the largest animals in the chameleon family. neunzehn76 Editorial Office: Carl-Zeiss-Straße 21, 28816 Stuhr/Bremen, Telephone +49 421 8771 0, Email: connected@rff.de Publisher: rff Rohr Flansch Fitting Handels GmbH Chief editor: Holger Bellersen, bellersen@rff.de Authors featured in this issue: Martin Höche-Heemsath, Jan Martin Porcher, Nina Svenson Layout/Concept: moskito GmbH & Co. We are family For centuries in Germany, up to four generations lived under the same roof plus any staff. The family was the linchpin for most matters unshakeable and always there. The ideal life consisted of stability, security and family support in a very close environment, often with little autonomy. But apart from security, reliability was often synonymous with resistance to change. And today? What does reliability mean in an age where the average employee changes his or her job every four years, and two generations per household is well above average? 4

Everything Change and remaining true to yourself remains in motion Nothing endures but change, said Heraclitus two and a half millennia ago. Nothing, really? Change is certainly a fact of life - particularly in a dynamic company. And yet there are countless examples of when change and staying true to yourself can work in harmony. Reliability is often the most important prerequisite here. THESEUS 500 B.C. 6 neunzehn76 01/2016
