Welcome to Worship at First Presbyterian Church Neenah, Wisconsin We re delighted that you re here! With the open arms of Christ, we welcome persons of every age, ability, race, or ethnicity fully into the life of the church, recognizing and respecting all sexual orientations and gender identities. Large print bulletins (with hymns included) are available. Please ask an usher. Hearing Assistance: First Presbyterian has a hearing loop for hearing aid users equipped with T-coils. Brochures explaining this feature are available in the pews. Childcare (infants and toddlers through 2 years old) is available in the nursery located next to the Fellowship Hall. We welcome infants and small children in worship, but if your child needs care or becomes uncomfortable during the service, feel free to leave and return as you wish. The audio portion of the second service can be heard in the Chapel, where you and your child are also welcome. Worship Bags and Bibles for Children are available near the entrances of the Chapel and the Nave, as are booster seats to make your child more comfortable. Wee Worship: At the option of their parents, children ages three years through first grade are invited to gather in the Wee Worship room next to the library immediately following the Time for Children at the second service (a teacher will lead them there). Wee Worship provides an environment for young children to learn, experience, and participate in worship in a developmentally appropriate way. When we celebrate a Baptism or Communion, children will rejoin their families in worship right after the sermon so that they can participate. If their parents prefer, children may be taken to the nursery instead of returning to worship. Online Connections: Please learn more about us at our website, www.firstpresneenah.org, and Like us on Facebook, www.facebook.com/firstpresneenah, for updates on church activities. Today s Ministers of Welcome: Greeters: Deacon Jason Sieck and Elder Dan Began. Ushers: at 8:00 a.m. Faye and Dan Wells. Coffee Hostess: Debbie Griffith. The flowers today are given by Jill Drake and Julie Owens in memory of Naomi and Jerry Owens. 1

Adult Education takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in Room #109 (the Meeting Room): Today Oct. 2 Handbells 101 [SERVE] Presented by: Paul McKlveen, Handbell Program Coordinator We invite you to come learn a little bit about handbells. Our two handbell choirs adult and middle/high school are in need of more members. We would love for this program to continue, so please join us as we cover a brief history of English Handbells and the very basics of handbell ringing. Participants will learn how to hold and ring a handbell and learn about several basic techniques. Come and learn about what handbell music looks like, how handbells are assigned to a choir, and why handbell ringers wear gloves. World Communion Sunday FaithTime for Everyone! [SERVE] On this day we celebrate unity with all across the world regardless of denomination, tradition, or country. Children and youth will learn about hunger around the world and what we can do to help, and then, during worship we will celebrate with a flag procession and dedication of the Peace and Global Witness Offering. Wars rage. Women and children are victims of atrocities. Anger bubbles over into violence. Differences between people grow, and understanding is in short supply. Your support of the Peace & Global Witness Offering acknowledges that a wilderness of conflict may surround us, but we are not abandoned there. If we open our eyes to the possibilities of peace, we see God has set a table for anyone willing to take a seat. The Peace & Global Witness Offering will be received on World Communion Sunday, October 2 nd. Offering envelopes can be found in each pew in the Chapel and the Nave or use the Online Giving QR code on the back of this bulletin. During this Season of Peace, consider the difference your gift can make. The next exciting adventure of the Women s Outdoor Adventure Group is planned for Sunday, October 2 nd. Let s meet in the church parking lot at 1:45 p.m., head to Meuer Farms (meuerfarm.com) near Fond du Lac, and try our luck with the corn maze! Then we ll head to LaClare Farms (laclarefarm.com), located a bit south of Chilton, to visit a 500 head goat farm at milking time. We ll end with a casual dinner at a location to be determined. Plan on approximately $25 for the day s activities. Please RSVP by Tuesday, September 27 th to Amy Cebulski (acebulski22@gmail.com or 757-0694) and bring a friend! Once again, the SPY and JOY groups will be walking to raise funds for world hunger. The CROP Walk for Hunger takes place Sunday October 9 th, 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Appleton. Walking routes are available in one, three, or six miles. Please mark this date to participate with us and/or consider a donation to this worthy cause. Worship Notes: The offertory sung by the Chancel Choir at the 10:15 a.m. service: Give Me a Faith Roberta Bitgood Prayer by Rev. Charles Lee Reynolds Give me a faith, O Lord, I pray, a faith that makes me strong each day, that helps me face the storms of life, that takes away the sting of strife. Give me a joy that faith will bring, a joy that helps my heart to sing, whate er the tasks and perils be, and trials sore that trouble me. Give me the peace that faith will give, a peace that shows me how to live above the loud and mighty roar of winds and waves upon life s shore. Give me the hope that faith bestows, a hope that triumphs through all woes, to see the dawning of the hour when all shall recognize thy power. Give me a faith that ever grows in spite of clouds and cruel foes; a faith that holds me close to thee, and from all ills will set me free. 8

Learn about Christian faith through worship and study. We praise and honor God through music, providing musical education for all age groups. We create an educational environment for all to learn and grow in faith. We welcome new viewpoints into our discussions of faith through challenging sermons and by being open and honest as a congregation. Love our neighbors as Jesus taught. We invite and welcome persons of any age, ability, race or ethnicity fully into the life of the church, recognizing and respecting all sexual orientations and gender identities. We nourish a sense of community and belonging through a range of weekly group activities for all ages. We organize support for church members in times of need and celebrate together in times of joy. Serve God by serving others. We strive to make a tangible, positive impact worldwide through regular service projects and yearly mission trips for youth and adults. We commit our time, talents, and financial resources to the life of the church and toward the wellbeing of the community. We cherish ongoing traditions in the church while exploring new ways to show gratitude and generosity. 10

Pastoral Care: Because of HIPAA laws and privacy regulations, the church does not always hear about hospitalizations of our members.
