JAMES SUNDAY, OCT 16 TH, 4-5PM When our newly ordained Deacon Doug and I were discussing various ministries together, we had a common inspiration, a Marian prayer group. Not surprisingly, love and devotion to Our Blessed Mother has been an integral part of Deacon Doug s and his wonderful wife Carrie s vocational journey. When Doug suggested a Marian prayer cenacle, I was glad to give him the green light on this a new adventure for our parish. Sunday afternoons, of course are filled with many family, school and recreational activities, but squeezing in a Holy Hour can a huge difference in the meaning of our Sabbath rest. Our hope is that we will have Our Lady s Family Cenacle once a month. If you would like to be included in announcements and notifications, please give your email or mobile phone number to Deacon Doug or Fr. Koys. The Cenacle will be an hour in length where we can come together in prayerful celebration and Thanksgiving for the graces give to us by God and pray for the powerful intersession of Our Blessed Mother to intercede on our behalf in areas of healing and faith. Pray and Witness to God s gift of Life. LIFE CHAIN, SUNDAY, OCT 2 ND, 2PM, AT ARCHER AVE- NUE & WILLOW SPRINGS ROADS, park in the Castle banqueting parking lot. In our obligation to promote the sacredness of life, silence is our biggest enemy. It is all too easy to remain silent in regard to the sacredness of life because of fear of ridicule, fear of hurting other s feelings and fear of showing ourselves to be a hypocrite because of past sins. But, the LIFE CHAIN provides a grace to comfort and heal, to do penance and to help both innocent babies and pregnant couples see the right path to take, to see the light of life, to save a light that comes from God, that once extinguished is incredibly hard to ignite. EXORCIST SAYS THERE'S A DEMON THAT TARGETS THE FAMILY: Rome, Italy, Sep 24, 2016 / 03:02 am (CNA/EWTN News).- There's a demon that specializes in attacking the family, said exorcist César Truqui, a priest who participated in a course on exorcism held in Rome last year. Fr. Truqui warned that everything that is harming the family, including divorce, pleases the devil. Speaking to the Italian weekly Tempi in 2015, the priest said that there is a demon who specializes in the attack on the family, also cited in the story of Tobias, called 'Asmodeus.' In the Old Testament book, the demon is known to have killed seven of Sarah's husbands and was chained in the desert by St. Raphael. The demon is present in many exorcisms, Fr. Truqui said. During the exorcism the demon was furious and threatened Fr. Amorth in order to prevent the marriage, otherwise he would kill the young woman. Obviously, it was a threat from the Liar which in fact did not happen. In that regard, the priest added that the devil also seeks to attack the family through ideologies and lifestyles, as well as individualistic thinking and the spread of divorce. They think 'if I don't like my husband anymore, I would be better off divorcing' but they forget about the consequences to the children and society, he said. This mentality that works against the family pleases the devil he knows that a man who is alone without any points of reference is manipulable and unstable. Even today, and I'm more than 50 years old, just thinking that my mother and father love each other forever, I find comfort and courage. In contrast, the children of separated parents are more fragile and wavering, he said. In 2014, Pope Francis gave an address to the Charismatic Renewal, in which he pointed out that the devil seeks to destroy families because that is where Jesus grows, in the midst of the love of the spouses and in the lives of their children. He grows in the love of the spouses, he grows in the lives of the children. And that's why the enemy attacks the family so much. The devil does not love the family. He seeks to destroy it, he wants to eliminate love there, he warned at Rome's Olympic stadium before 52,000 people. On that day Francis reminded that families are these domestic churches. The spouses are sinners, like everyone, but they want to progress in the faith, in their fruitfulness, in the children and their children's faith. And so he asked the Lord to bless the family, make it strong, in this crisis in which the devil wants to destroy it. CHURCH OF SWEDEN After a French priest, Jacques Hamel, was murdered by ISIS sympathizers in Rouen, France, on July 26, 2016, an initiative started in Sweden where Swedish Christians took selfies with a cross to show solidarity with persecuted Christians. The initiative, called Mitt kors ( My Cross ), was started by three priests from the Church of Sweden. The Church of Sweden, however, criticized it. Gunnar Sjöberg, head of communications for the Church of Sweden, wrote on his Facebook page: I really do not know about that. This thing about Christians suddenly wearing a cross as a sign for or against something. It is actually nothing new, but the call seems seditious and un-christian in the conflicts that already exist. So now, according to a senior official in the Church of Sweden, the call to wear a cross to show solidarity with persecuted Christians is un-christian. That the Church of Sweden distances itself from people who carry the cross caused Ann Heberlein, a doctor of theology and lecturer at Lund University, to write, The leadership of the Church of Sweden no longer wants to lead a Christian community; they want to lead a general ethical association for humanistic values of the most vulgar kind. The Church of Sweden s attacks on the My Cross initiative continued until one of the priests who had started it publicly left the Church of Sweden. In an article, Johanna Andersson, the priest who is resigning, writes: Church leadership has for several weeks been running a campaign against us who started the group My cross. In this campaign, I have been discredited, called questionable, unclean, agitator, un- Christian and attributed xenophobic hidden agendas. The question, therefore, is whether some Christian leaders in Sweden really care about Jesus and Christianity or whether they are using Jesus to convey a political agenda which includes a liberal immigration policy and multiculturalism. Totally disgraceful. Heberlein says 13,000 Swedes resigned from the Church of Sweden in the month of June alone. That may be a drop in the bucket, given that the church boasts a membership of 6.6 million. But that huge number is deceptive. Only about 400,000 go to church at least once a month, according to this report, and only 15 percent believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. What will happen to the faithful remnant in Sweden?
