Updated May 2, 2017 THE SENEFF FAMILY The Seneff or Senff family is German. Virtually everything I have comes from Donna Senff Mata in California who is on the same basic line as we are. The first of the line I have information on is Conrad Senff. CONRAD SENFF Conrad was born around 1745 in Pfaiz, Reinland, Germany. He was married to a Catherine in about 1768 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania where they ran a farm. He died about 1790 in Fayette County. I have information on two children. Christian Senff He is our line and is covered next. Justina Senff She was born February 5, 1772 in Bullskin, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She married Andrew Trapp in Fayette County about 1790. I have no information on any children. Justina died in Fayette County on April 6, 1837. CHRISTIAN SENFF Christian was born in Bullskin, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on October 3, 1770. He was a farmer and a logger. He was also a preacher in the United Brethern Church. He was married three times. He was first married to a Susannah. She may have been a Resler, and a sister of his second spouse. They were married in Saltlick, Fayette County in about 1793. They had two children. Susannah died in childbirth of their second child, Johan on December 4, 1796. The first two children were William and Johan. Christian then married Barbara Resler in 1798. She may have been Susannah's sister. They remained in Saltlick, Fayette County and they had an additional ten children.

Barbara died in the very early 1820s. Christian then married Mary Gnagy in about 1823. There were no children in this last marriage. In about 1828, Christian, Mary and the five youngest children went by wagon to Wayne County, Ohio and settled in Mount Eaton, Ohio. They remained there until their deaths. Christian died February 20, 1855 and Mary died a few months later on June 10, 1855. Both are buried in the Westlawn Cemetery in Paint Township, Wayne County, Ohio. Their children were: William Senff He was born in Saltlick on June 23, 1795. He was a farmer, stock dealer and ran a tannery. He was married three times. He first married Phebe Barnett on September 30, 1819 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Phebe died December 1, 1842. He then remarried Hannah Fulton on July 2, 1844 and after her death married Martha McElvy on March 8, 1866. William died in Chadwick, Carroll County, Illinois August 13, 1875. He is buried in the Fairhaven Cemetery in Chadwick. I do not yet have information on children. Johan Michael Senff He was born December 4, 1796 and died in infancy. His mother died during his birth. Daniel Senff He was born April 20, 1799. He married Susannah Barnett. This is our line, his life is covered in the next section. John Senff John was born May 29, 1800 in Fayette County, the first child of Christian and Barbara. He married Elizabeth Miller on December 15, 1831. He had another spouse. John died in Springfield Township, Fayette County on September 17, 1893. David Seneff David was born July 19, 1801. He married a Susanna about 1823 and moved to Ohio where he died around 1850. Catherine Senff

Catherine was born July 11, 1803. She was married twice. I do not have the name of her first spouse, but in about 1846 she married Adam Miser and died in Ohio in about 1858. Solomon Senff Solomon was born May 20, 1806. He married Sarah Barnett in about 1832. He died in Sugar Creek, Tuscarawas County, Ohio in the early 1850s. Christian Senff Jr. Christian was born January 15, 1808. He married a Mary in Ohio in about 1832. He took over half his father's farm and died in June 1886 in Mt. Easton, Wayne County, Ohio. Susannah Senff She was born in 1812 and married John McLain in Ohio. They moved to Zanesville, where she died. Barbara Senff She was born in 1813 in Fayette County. She married Peter Forney in Wayne County, Ohio. Philip Senff Philip was born November 6, 1815 in Fayette County. He married Sarah Hoffer in 1844 in Wayne County, Ohio. He took over the other half of his father's farm and lived there until his death on February 20, 1900. Jacob Senff Jacob was the youngest child. He was born in Pennsylvania on November 16, 1817. He married Rebecca Tedrow in Wayne County, Ohio on November 5, 1840. He died in Bremen, Marshall County, Indiana on April 4, 1902. DANIEL SENEFF Daniel used the spelling Seneff as did his children. Daniel was born in Saltlick, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on April 20, 1799. He married Susanna Barnett in about 1826 in Saltlick. In about 1846, the family moved to Dover, Tuscarawas County, Ohio and then in 1863 they moved to Madison Township, Daviess County, Indiana.

In Indiana he purchased a 154 acre farm. He worked it for some seven years, and then gave it to his son William Seneff. Daniel lived on the farm then until his death. Daniel was a retail merchant. Daniel died there in Madison on December 19, 1877, and Susanna died there January 31, 1880. Their nine children were: Jacob Barnett Seneff Jacob was born April 8, 1828 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He married Susannah Putt in Tuscarawas County, Ohio on March 24, 1853. He was a farmer, merchant like his father and a furniture maker. He died in Odin, Daviess County, Indiana July 29, 1894. Daniel B. Seneff Daniel was born in January 1830. He married Mary Magdaline Alleshouse in Tuscarawas County on April 25, 1861. He died of typhoid fever during the Civil War on May 21, 1865 in a field hospital. Sarah Seneff She was born in Saltlick, Pennsylvania on January 7, 1837. She married Taylor Pensinger in Daviess County, Indiana on October 18, 1863. This is our line. Her life and family are covered in the PENSINGER FAMILY HISTORY earlier in this book. Susanna Seneff Susanna was the last child born in Pennsylvania. She was born February 4, 1840. She married Daniel Cunningham in Tuscarawas County, Ohio on August 3, 1884.

Joseph Seneff He was the first of three children born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He was born March 12, 1848. He married Emma Jane Patterson in Tuscarawas County in about 1874. He died in 1883 in Odon, Daviess County, Indiana. John Wesley Seneff John was born in 1849 and died on March 7, 1851. Catherine (?)
