Simon & Jude Parishioner Seeks Live Donor Liver Transplant Margaret Caruso, a very involved member of SS. Simon and Jude Parish, Blairsville, needs a liver transplant. While her illness is serious and likely will result in death without a new liver, her condition does not score high enough to receive a liver from the nationwide transplant list. Since the liver can regenerate on its own, she is seeking a live donor. A portion of the donor s liver will be removed and placed in Mrs. Caruso. Both livers will regenerate, allowing the donor to resume a normal life and Mrs. Caruso to live. Anyone who feels called to be a living donor can contact her son, John Caruso, at 919-622-1780 for more information about screening and other procedures.
