THE PERSON JESUS ADMIRED MOST Sermon Based Small Group Study September 5 & 6, 2015 Northeast Christian Church 2015 Northeast Christian Church
How To Use These Sessions In these pages you will find that our session is broken down into four parts: Theme Introduction, Group Opener, Group Discussion, and Action Steps. The Theme Introduction allows everyone in your group to start out at the same place. Whether they are new believers or seasoned followers of Christ, this allows everyone to start off on the same foot in your study. The Group Opener is a way to get the conversation going. Don t worry we won t make you do any goofy group exercises and do any bad youth group ice-breaker games. However, this allows everyone in your group to get to know each other in a different way and to feel comfortable. The Group Discussion is the heart of your group study. This is where we will dig into God s Word and discuss how it applies to our lives. Last are the Action Steps. This is the place where we see how what we have learned impacts our lives during the week. You may not get to all of the different questions and topics within your discussion guide and that s just fine. It is more important that your group has a deep and fruitful conversation than completing all of the questions. 2 2015 Northeast Christian Church
THE PERSON JESUS ADMIRED MOST SEPTEMBER 5 & 6, 2015 BIG IDEA Our whole life should point to Jesus. THEME INTRODUCTION There are many people in this world that would be considered great. These people have ranged from visionaries and world-changers to people who have simply invented great things. Yet, at the end of the day, the people who have really changed the world are the ones who have impacted us spiritually. GROUP OPENER When you were a kid, who was the person you idolized the most? This could be an athlete, a superhero, or someone who was close to you. As children, we all idolize someone. Who was it for you? ACTION STEPS As a Group Take some time to pray for your group. Specifically pray for someone who your group can impact. On Your Own Who is someone in your life that you can lead to Christ? We all have people in our lives who need to hear the hope and love that Christ brings. Who is that for you? Pray a bold prayer that God would open up the door for you to build a relationship with that person and that you will be brave enough to introduce them to Christ. GROUP DISCUSSION Have someone in your group read 2 Corinthians 5:18-20. According to this passage, what is God s primary mission through Christ? How does this show God s love for us? How does this show his concern for people? We are called to be Christ s ambassador s. What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ? Take an honest look at yourself. Do you live your life as Christ s ambassador? How would or should you change your life to live as Christ s ambassador? Think of the person who impacted you the most spiritually. What kind of example did they show you? Share with your group your story about that person. How can you emulate that person s life? One of the ways that we impact people spiritually is by keeping an open eye to those around us who need spiritual healing or help. Is there someone like that in your life? How can you be an ambassador for Christ to that person? 3 2015 Northeast Christian Church
