Take the E-LIFE Challenge: Be an E-LIFE Kid Missionary! Student Handout Hundreds of missionaries serve in foreign countries and even throughout the United States. They are busy telling the world about Jesus. But did you know that you, too, can become a missionary? God is looking for committed students to become missionaries to the public schools and communities of America. Some students in your school know little or nothing about Jesus and may have never been to church. Wouldn t it be great if you could get all the students in your school to go to church? Well, that may never happen, but you can take Jesus to them. As an E-LIFE Kid, you have been challenged to live out The Five Commitments of an E-LIFE Kid, which include showing friendship and kindness to other students. Take the challenge and pledge to be an E-LIFE Kid. Then take the next step and become an E-LIFE Kid Missionary to your school. Here s how: Seek the Spirit s Help (Seek the first commitment of an E-LIFE Kid) This first of the five E-LIFE Kid commitments is the most important, because without the help of God s Spirit, we will never be successful in leading others into a relationship with Him. Begin by creating a time every day to talk with God. Spending time talking to God throughout the day is important. Eually important is setting aside some alone time with God. Begin your new daily schedule by getting alone with God and talking with Him for five minutes. Then spend another five minutes reading the Bible. Try to increase this devotional time with God each week until you re spending at least 15 solid minutes a day with God.

Living Out the Five Commitments Being an E-LIFE Kid is fun and exciting. But there s much more to it; living out these promises means that in every part of your life, you re willing to give God your best. And you promise to yourself, to your church, and to everyone that you re going to keep those commitments regardless of circumstances and how you feel at the moment. Committing to God: I ll be Your missionary! This is a major step, and it takes a serious E-LIFE Kid to make this commitment. Not only are you promising God and your church that you ll live out The Five Commitments of an E-LIFE Kid, but you re also promising God and your church that you will be a missionary to your school and community. Take the first step by asking God to help you EAGERLY WANT to be a special missionary. l Ask God to EMPOWER you (give you the power to become) to be a special missionary. l Prepare yourself to be a missionary by praying to Him regularly, reading God s Word faithfully, and doing what God s Word says. Commit to being a missionary by making new friendships with more than just the kids you like and who are popular. l Go out of your way to show kindness to EVERYBODY. l Share your faith REGULARLY and with more than just your friends. l Do the Go 3-D steps below. l Serve your teachers and school leaders by volunteering from time to time in school projects. Get Commissioned When you fully commit to living out The Five Commitments of an E-LIFE Kid and you re ready to take the next BIG step for God serving as a missionary to your school and community your coach (leader) should challenge you to get commissioned. That s a special time that you re publicly saying to your church and family that you will be God s missionary to your school and community. Memorize the E-LIFE Plan The E-LIFE Plan is the plan of salvation that is easily explained by using the letters E-L-I-F-E. Ask your coach (leaders) for a copy of The E-LIFE Plan. During church times and at home, memorize The E-LIFE Plan and recite it to your coach and to your friends at church. Grow comfortable in sharing this with others. When you get comfortable, try sharing it with your mom or dad. Then take the next step and begin sharing The E-LIFE Plan during a natural and relaxed setting with your friends. The following step would be to share it with other new friends. 2008 by Gospel Publishing House, 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802. All rights reserved. Show E-LIFE to Your Teachers and School Leaders (Show the second commitment of an E-LIFE Kid) Showing E-LIFE means you re living the example of Jesus before your teachers and school leaders. Showing E-LIFE also means you do good deeds for your teacher and school leaders. Look for every chance to serve others! You will be the example of what being a Christian is all about. And by doing so, others will notice and want to find out why you behave as you do. Then, by living as Jesus would, you have the chance to tell others about Jesus. Share Jesus with Others (Share the third commitment of an E-LIFE Kid) Think of the Holy Spirit as your Agent, who provides all the opportunities for you to present Jesus to others. Pray each day that the Holy Spirit will provide the chances (opportunities) where you can share about Jesus with others. Often, these chances increase when you make friends with others. Make the effort to make new friends throughout the school year. Compete with other E-LIFE Kids to see who can make the most friends so you will eventually have the most chances to share Jesus with them. You needn t worry about making it happen. Just ask the Holy Spirit your Booking Agent and the right timing will happen. Invite Others to Accept Jesus and to Come to Church (Invite the fourth commitment of an E-LIFE Kid) You can lead other kids to Christ right at school, and you can do the 3-D process and mentor other kids at school and in your community. But to help them become all they can become in Jesus, it s important to get them to church. So invite other kids to your church activities. If at first you have difficulty sharing with others about Jesus, then begin by inviting them to church. Invest in Others: Go 3-D (Invest the fifth commitment of an E-LIFE Kid) Investing in others means you give your time and energy to help others grow spiritually. So Go 3-D! When you pledge to become an E-LIFE Kid Missionary to your school, the Go 3-D means you re willing to mentor other kids at school or whenever and wherever possible. Part of the Go 3-D plan is to duplicate yourself meaning to double your efforts by helping others become spiritually strong in Jesus like you. Duplicating yourself begins by investing in others. Some call it mentoring others; some call it discipling others. Here s an example of Go 3-D: DISCUSS with your coach (leader) what God is saying to do in a given E-LIFE Bible study or devotional or lesson. DO what God is saying to do (obedience) in His Word by living out your faith before other kids at school and in your neighborhood. DUPLICATE yourself by helping other students learn how to become E-LIFE Kids and to live for Jesus. 2008 by Gospel Publishing House, 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802. All rights reserved. Permission to reproduce and adapt lesson components for exclusive use in the classroom and student notebooks. Any other use reuires written permission.

Here are some ways you can Go 3-D: ➊ ➋ ➌ ➍ Share your faith with your friends and other students. Ask your E-LIFE coach for an E-LIFE Witnessing Tool and learn how to use it to share the E-LIFE Plan of salvation with others. Pass out copies of the Go 3-D God is Waiting to help other students learn more about God s plan for their lives. Encourage non-believers and other believers to faithfully follow Jesus. Encourage other believers, talk with them about Jesus regularly, and help them grow spiritually. Find time to meet and pray with others at school. Look for ways to invest/mentor others during free time before, during, and after school. Here s a great idea: Form an E-LIFE club right at your school! You could do a short Bible devotional with other students and even do some E-xtreme Fun game activities, such as you do at church. Reuirements for the E-LIFE Kid Missionary Have a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. Make a public proclamation in church that you want to become an E-LIFE Kid Missionary and become commissioned as an E-LIFE Kid Missionary. Regularly attend church. Regularly read your Bible. Establish a regular time of talking with (praying to) God. Ask the Holy Spirit daily to be your Booking Agent and to provide new chances in which you can share your faith with others. Daily fulfill your Five Commitments of the E-LIFE Kid. Share your faith in some manner at school or in your neighborhood at least once a week. If possible, obtain from your coach the E-LIFE Witnessing Tool, which is available from Gospel Publishing House. Meet monthly with your E-LIFE coach. Ask your coach for printouts of the E-LIFE Kids Journal. Develop a personal plan with your E-LIFE coach of how you can be a missionary to your school. Write down your objectives on your E-LIFE Kids Journal. Review those objectives with your E-LIFE coach each month. Beside each objective, record your progress. At least uarterly, try to develop new objectives with your E-LIFE coach and record those new objectives in your journal. Try to make a new friend at least once a month. Invite at least one student to church every month. Try to organize an E-LIFE club in your school or community. This may simply include finding a group of students who will pray with you at least once a week before or after school. It could include a time for sharing the Go 3-D devotionals and doing something fun like the E-xtreme Fun games (see your coach for the E-xtreme Fun game printouts. Are You Ready? Now get ready, get set, go! Make the commitment and become an E-LIFE Kid and an E-LIFE Kid Missionary. Kids everywhere are waiting and wanting to find the real truth in life. That truth is Jesus, who died for you and your schoolmates and who wants to have a personal relationship with them. And it all starts with you! Go 3-D! Note: Use the Go 3-D God is Waiting when sharing about Jesus with your friends. Ask your coach for copies. 2008 by Gospel Publishing House, 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802.
