Continually Praising God In both the first reading and the Gospel we are told about Christ s glorious ascension into heaven. Paul s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that Christ has been seated at God s right hand in heaven, above every choir of angels. There might be a temptation to stay at an awed distance from Jesus Christ. However, the tone of today s readings is far from that temptation. The tone is exultant and the message is urgent. We are to be his witnesses, and the Gospel describes the first witnesses this way: With great joy... they were continually in the temple praising God (Luke 24:53). How can we continually praise God? The answer can be found in the second reading, in which Paul prays that God will give us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in order to know Christ clearly (Ephesians 1:17). We cannot stand at a distance. We are to be enlightened and empowered. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. The Steubenville Youth Conferences are known for their dynamic speakers, amazing grace-filled Adoration sessions, and an unforgettable experience with Christ for high school youth! It's where the Holy Spirit ignites a fire in our young people to love and serve God and neighbor. Volunteer Groups Needed: Sponsor a meal for 45 Youth for LEAD Workshop The week leading up to the Steubenville Conference is a special LEAD Week, a time where 40 youth will come together to go deeper and learn how to be leaders in their faith. Parish Ministry Groups (such as women's groups, men's groups, Knights, auxiliary groups) can sponsor a dinner. All menus have been determined. Groups can collect money or make the meal! In total there are eight dinners that need to be made. Serve meals at the conference There are six meals that are being served at the actual conference, July 22-24. Catechesis is from the Greek word meaning to echo, or resound. Catechesis is the act of resounding or bringing the Church s teachings to the world. A catechist is one who teaches in the name of the Church. Pope Francis says that being a catechist is not a title; it is an attitude of abiding with Him, and it lasts a lifetime! It means abiding in the Lord s presence and letting ourselves be led by Him And this is the job of the catechist: constantly go forth to others out of love, to bear witness to Jesus and to talk about Jesus, to proclaim Jesus. Are you listening to Jesus call? Ready to open up to children and share what you re learning about Jesus? A catechist doesn t need to know everything. A catechist just needs to be open to learning more every day from Jesus who is the Real Teacher. There are ready-made lessons to follow from a Teacher s Manual and experienced teachers to lead you as you lead the little ones. Want to give it a try? Please call or visit our D.R.E., LeAnn Rogan, in the parish office to discuss how you might fit into the Faith Formation puzzle here at St. Anne. You may be our missing piece! This is made difficult by current lifestyles, work schedules and the complexity of today s world, where many people keep up a frenetic pace just to survive. Even so, the home must continue to be the place where we learn to appreciate the meaning and beauty of the faith, to pray and to serve our neighbor." Pope Francis, in his April 2016 Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, which means: The Joy of Love. Still, we re here to help! GRACE Women's Group Announces Upcoming Book Studies In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, The GRACE Women's Group has announced book studies for the summer and fall sessions that correspond to this theme of our Church. Summer Session (Book Study) begins June 9 - August 25, Cost, $15 "God's Healing Mercy: Finding Your Path to Forgiveness, Peace, and Joy" by Kathleen Beckman We'll read 1-2 chapters per week and discuss in small groups. Here's a description: A heart in need of healing is carrying a heavy burden. As we struggle to overcome fear, anxiety, loneliness, shame, trauma, and sin, we also dream of being well loved. Only Jesus can heal your heart and offer inexhaustible love, and He stands ready to open the floodgates of His mercy upon your aching soul. In God's Healing Mercy, experienced retreat master and trained spiritual director, Kathleen Beckman, offers a guide for a personal or group healing retreat based on Divine Mercy in Scripture and in the lives of the Saints. She'll show you how Divine Mercy can heal festering wounds and universally transform your life. You ll learn how to confront your weaknesses, and you ll create a plan for letting God s mercy heal your heart and make straight your crooked ways. Fall Session (DVD & Study Guide) begins September 8, Cost: $25 Divine Mercy In The Second Greatest Story Ever Told by Fr. Michael Gaitley This is a dramatic 10-session film journey featuring the renowned Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC. With his characteristic skill and lucid style, Fr. Gaitley interweaves the dramatic history of Poland, the transformative message of St. Faustina, the miraculous appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and the world-changing papacy of St. John Paul II into a tapestry of wonder and beauty. And now, for the first time, Fr. Gaitley s luminous teaching is presented with the cinematic artistry of the Augustine Institute s film team, bringing to life the vast panorama of God s work of mercy in the world, and his calling to the hearts of all who will embrace it. You will follow along with a personal study guide and we will discuss in small groups. GRACE Meeting Times: GRACE is for all women! It's where we Grow in Relationship Among Christ Everyday! Parish Staff Stewardship Prayer My church is composed of people like me. I help make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship if I invite and bring them. It will be a church of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a church with a noble spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things. Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my church to be.
