Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Matthew 9:36-38 From Pastor Ralph... Harvest will be 15 years old in November, and Rhonda and I complete 15 years of work here this month! In June of 1996, after 14 years of youth ministry, including 5 years of seminary, we packed our stuff into a u-haul and drove from Kentucky to Dothan with our boys (at that time they were 7, 4, and 10 months). Within a week we were already talking with people who were interested in the new church. And as you know, there is a lot more to that story. Many of you have heard some of it the Membership Class, but all of you can look around now and see what God has done. It has been a wonderful privilege, challenge, adventure, and blessing, but I am tired. So, the Leadership and Staff is graciously allowing me to take off the next three weeks. Rhonda and I will be in and out of town during this time. Our sons will be here since Daniel and Joel are helping out at Harvest this summer, and Paul is involved with all the great summer youth activities. For the next two Sunday mornings, Bill Reif will speak. Bill is an outstanding preacher and has ministered across the US and Canada. He has given his life to building the kingdom of God. God speaks through him and uses him in wonderful ways. Then, on the first Sunday in July our youth pastor, Jeff Burnett, will speak. Jeff is gifted and anointed, and you need to hear what God has to say through him. I want to especially encourage you to be at worship these next three weeks. It is important that a church not be too dependent on the lead pastor, so if attendance is up while I am out, I will be happy. Most of us come because of our love for God and desire to worship Him, and I am pretty sure He will be here. He is able to speak to us whenever we meet together, and He regularly speaks through Bill and Jeff. I believe God has a distinctive word for you these three Sundays. If you come ready to hear, God will speak to you. I hope you will come to worship Him, ready to pray for and encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ, prepared to receive the word of God, and bringing a few guests with you. It is going to be a great three weeks. Hopefully you will want me to go away again soon! As you think of us, please ask God to bless our time off. Ask Him to show us how to best use the time. Ask Him to refresh and energize us so we can return recharged. The Lord seems to be saying that all He has done with Harvest so far is nothing compared to all He wants to do. I want to be able to keep up with where He wants us to go, and I never want to limit Him. Ask Him to fill us with faith for more and with His Spirit to love and lead better. The best is yet to come!
