QUIOCCASIN BAPTIST CHURCH 100% STEWARDSHIP INITIATIVE by Reverend Kenneth Brown, Minister of Stewardship Our Objective: The overall objective of the Quioccasin Baptist Church 100% Stewardship Initiative is to increase the commitment of our members to the giving of the Lord s Tithes, Regular Offerings, Mission Offerings and Sacrificial Offerings. Our Goal: The goal of the Quioccasin Baptist Church 100% Stewardship Initiative is that every member to give 10% of their gross income as the Lord s Tithes, give at least 1% of their gross income as Regular and Mission Offerings and give at least the following Sacrificial Offerings: 1) Men s Day - $150, 2) Women s Day - $150, 3) Homecoming - $150, 4) Church Anniversary - $150, and 5) Mortgage Fund - $100/monthly. Quioccasin Baptist Church 9011 Quiioccasiin Road Henriico,, Viirgiiniia 23229 Church Offffiice:: ((804)) 741--2313 Fax:: ((804)) 741--1501 Our Vision: The vision of the Quioccasin Baptist Church Stewardship Initiative is that every member would become a 100% Committed Steward. To become a 100% Committed Steward follow the steps listed below: Step 1: Pray and ask God to give you the faith and commitment to become a 100% Committed Steward. (Genesis 28:20-22) Step 2: Give at least 10% of your gross income as the Lord s Tithe, to the Quioccasin Baptist Church. (Leviticus 27:30) Step 3: Give at least 1% of your gross income as Regular and Mission Offerings to the Quioccasin Baptist Church. (1 Chronicles 29:1-9; 2 Corinthians 8:1-24; Acts 20:35) MEN S DAY 6TH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY February 15,, 2015 Step 4: Give at least $100/month to the Mortgage Fund. (Deuteronomy 26:1-2) Step 5: Give at least $150 to each of the Sacrificial Offerings (Men s Day, Women s Day, Homecoming, and Church Anniversary) annually. (Exodus 36:1-7) Many people today believe that tithing was commanded under the Old Covenant and for Old Testament purposes and not required in the New Covenant. In the New Testament (Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42), many would point out that Jesus criticizes the giving of tithes. But Jesus was not criticizing the Pharisees for tithing, but for treating tithing as more important than love, mercy, justice and faithfulness. Those of us who entrust our lives to Jesus Christ do not worry about whether tithing is commanded in the New Testament. We, who are transformed by Christ to be more like Christ, are generous. Christians should give generously- -but giving is a result of our relationship with God. As found in Matthew 6:19-21, we need to lay up our treasures in heaven. How much more should we be willing to give freely and generously so God s work can be done in the world; to give in thankfulness for the eternal blessings we have in Christ Jesus? So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7).
