Parents should be registered and active members of the Parish. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: The Bride and Groom should call the Parish Office at least six months before the date of the marriage. Please bring recent copies of your Baptismal certificate. Those under 21 should not set a marriage date until Diocesan permission has been obtained. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: We want to assist those who cannot celebrate Mass with us because of illness, age or handicap. If you or a family member desires to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Anointing of the Sick at home or in the hospital, please call the PARISH OFFICE. In the event of an upcoming surgery, call the Parish Office to arrange a mutually convenient time for Anointing. By LAW, hospitals cannot notify us when parishioners are admitted. PERSONAL CARE DRIVE FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES: For the 3 rd year, Saint Michael s Parish has offered to be a Sponsor for the Personal Care Drive for Catholic Charities for the month of October. This drive helps folks who have HIV/ Aids and other Chronic Illnesses that Catholic Charities helps through their expanded Medicaid intensive case management services. Items they are in most need are: laundry detergent, dish soap, household cleaning products; personal hygiene products (soaps, shampoo, deodorant, shaving items); paper products (bath tissue, tissues, paper towels); sheets (full & twin) and bath towels. Anything you can donate will be appreciated. Please drop your donations in the box labeled Personal Care Drive for Catholic Charities in the back of the church during the month of October. Faith Formation News Director: Kathy Burns (518)237-0370; (518)428-6353 Sat., October 28th will be our Youth Ministry Community Service visit to the soup kitchen. The schedule is as follows : 1:00 pm 4:30pm Meal prep 4:30pm 5:30pm Meal service 5:30pm Clean up You may attend any part or all of the schedule. Parent permission forms were handed out in class this past Wednesday. Please return completed forms this Wednesday October 25th. This service event is part of Confirmation preparation. Beginning Wed. November 1st, we will be offering an adult Faith Formation series on The Mass. This program is titled Altaration, The Mystery of The Mass Revealed. It will run for 5 weeks. This is a perfect opportunity for those parents who are waiting for their children attending faith formation classes. It will be presented in the dining room of the Parish center. We will begin at 6pm and end at 6:45pm every Wednesday that class is in session for 5 weeks. Please join us in deepening our understanding of the Mass. Parents and parishioners are encouraged to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth. This program is free of charge. Saturday November 18th is SOUPER SATURDAY MOVIE NIGHT!!!!!! This event will take place in the church hall on Saturday November 18 after 4pm Mass (Approx. 5pm) We will have various types of soup, bread, beverages and dessert. After a light meal we will view the movie The 13th Day. This is a feature film about the powerful message of Fatima. Door prizes will be given away. This is a FREE faith sharing event. Parent meeting for children making First Eucharist this spring will be on Wednesday November 15th at 6pm. Parent meeting for Confirmation Candidates will be on Wednesday November 15th at 7:15pm. Students will attend their regular class. We will meet in the parish center. The meeting will end in time to pick up your child. If you cannot attend, please elect a responsible adult to attend on your behalf who would be willing to convey important information to you. HERE'S WHAT WE'RE LEARNING Last Wednesday all students in Faith Formation viewed the Diocesan mandated safe environment video. Please contact Mrs. Burns with any questions. Grade 1 The history of The Rosary was presented through visuals and activities. We continue to work on our Hail Mary and Our Father. Grade 2 Completed our discussion of the Rosary. We have begun the introduction to the Sacrament of Reconciliation to prepare for our First Pennance. Grade 3 This week we will be carving our Prayer Pumpkin and discussing the Christian way to celebrate Halloween. Apple cider and doughnuts will top off the evening. Grade 4 Prayers of the Rosary were presented along with a discussion of the mysteries of the Rosary. We will continue our discussion of the Mysteries as we finish making our Rosaries. Grade 5 Students viewed a beautiful film about the Miracles of Fatima. We continue to work on core concepts of the Trinity and our Faith. Grade 6/ 7 Completed our discussion of The Rosary and Mary as our Mother in heaven. We continue to explore the Sunday Gospel readings along with reflections. Rediscover Jesus continues. Grade 8/9 Continues to explore the Gospel of Matthew. This week we discussed the flight into Egypt, next week we will focus on John The Baptist. We continue with our gratitude journal and Resisting Happiness. Grade 10 Adoration continues each week. We will continue to make our own Rosaries. The Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy will be introduced with a focus on our upcoming service at the soup kitchen. Monday night students Will study the prayers of the Rosary and the 4 sets of Mysteries with a focus on each Mystery in each set. We will be making Rosaries. Divine Mercy Chaplet is said as our classroom prayer and Adoration will begin.
