Grand Knight's Report WE HAVE A MAJOR DEGREE COMING UP IN APRIL 21ST AND IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A LARGE NUMBER OF NEW CANDIDATES SO IF EVERY BROTHER KNIGHT COULD BRING IN ONE NEW MEMBER ( THE POWER OF ONE ), THIS WOULD BE A GREAT BOOST TO THE RECRUITING BLITZ BEING DONE IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH. . Chaplain's Message Next Sunday marks the beginning of our parish s Lenten mission. Father Max Oliva, author of several spiritual books including Beatitudes for the Workplace, will be leading us in this Lenten mission. As this is the Year of faith, it is important that we focus on bringing people back to the church, and invite other people to join us Fr Rick distributed copies of the parish mission, which begins Feb 24. Father Max will be present from Feb 23-27. Advocate s Report Br GAGNON was not present. Council Activities Br ROSSLER We had our Shrove Tuesday and Sunday breakfast this past week, but did not have as large a turnout as previous years Our total revenue for the events as $744.75, with our expenses totaling $810.52. Br ROSSLER is confident that we will recover our losses in our upcoming events The Umpire meal is coming up shortly, and Br ROSSLER is looking for help. Publicity Br BONAR Spring fling will be mentioned in this month s bulletins In March, the free throw competition will be mentioned, as well as our next meeting Highway cleanup and major degree will be displayed in the April bulletin. Church Representative Br BONAR Our parish mission starts Sunday Br ROSSLER mentioned that the stations of the cross will be held every Friday night at 7pm during Lent. The Knights will lead it this Friday (Feb 22 nd ) Parish council annual general meeting will occur on Apr 9, after the Tuesday evening mass. It will take place downstairs The parish council is in need of representatives. If you know of anyone or if you would like to serve, please consider it. At least three new names are needed. Spring Fling Raffle Br ROSSLER Our sales are coming along nicely We found out that the 3 for $10 books are far more popular So far we have sold around $1600, meaning all future sales should be profit Br ROSSLER would like to publicly thank those who helped, both in taking tickets to sell, and sitting at booths We still have two dates to sell at our booths During the draw, Br ROSSLER is hoping to get Jeff Fox from the YMCA as well as media coverage Br ROSSLER will stop at Grand Valley Press to make more green books (3 for $10). Retention Committee Br WAGNER So far it has been a successful effort, as many of the brothers contacted have paid One or two who have asked to be withdrawn, and there were a few others that were unable to be contacted. Basketball Free Throw Mar th Br GAGNON Grand Knight DUNCAN has contacted and confirmed seven brothers to help work this event, but is looking for twelve total
Those who are volunteering should bring some indoor shoes Grand Knight DUNCAN will contact Br GAGNON regarding doughnuts and coffee. Old Business. Inquiries about Seminarian Receipt Br Gerry GIENI has sent an email to supreme but has not received a response He will contact them again and report on this at our next meeting. Membership Blitz Br GAGNON was not present Br CHASE said the dates were going to be March 16 th and 17 th. Noise Bylaw Fr RICK stated that they have investigated to find which zone we are in, and the church, school, and KC homes are not zoned residential. The bylaw states that motor snow removal in residential must adhere to strict limits on weekends, so we may be exempt. Later on, though, it says 'anywhere in the city' is not allowed. They are asking for interpretation from the city. Failing that, the council will apply for an exemption. We will move snow as needed for now.. Sask Umpire Meal Request (Mar - ) Nothing new to report Br ROSSLER said they hope to have numbers by end of Feb. Non Profit Corporation Act Audit We will submit the page concerning this from the previous minutes in order to push this through. New Business. Election of Delegates Convention (Apr - ) The current Grand Knight is automatically nominated as the 1 st Delegate, and the 2 nd Delegate must be a past Grand Knight. Alternates must be provided for each delegate. Traditionally, the Deputy Grand Knight is an alternate for the 2nd Delegate. Camp Monahan Shamrock Drive We received a bag of 200 shamrocks, asking that we do a shamrock drive at all the masses on the weekends of Mar 10 and Mar 17 Fr RICK thinks Mar 17 should be enough, and is appropriate as it is St Patrick's day Br DUNCAN reminded us that there are several other things occurring on the Mar 10 weekend Br BONAR was asked, and accepted, the task of selling. State Family of the Year Nomination We nominated ROSSLER family for this honour, and Br WAGNER wrote a large nomination letter for this. Br DUNCAN would like to publically express how good it looks Br ROSSLER extends a thank you from his wife and himself. Father Gilpen council th Anniversary Will take place on Mar 22 at Church of our Lady Cocktails at 6:30pm, roast beef supper at 7:00pm Tickets are $20 individual, $35 for a couple. Snow Removal Br TONI reiterated that several brothers did not come to clear the snow from the entrances An older brother and Br TONI helped out on one such occasion Br BRADISH has also sent out emails regarding this problem. nd payment to our seminarian Tri Tran Motion # - It was moved by brother ROSSLER; seconded by brother BZDEL that we donate $500 to our seminarian, Tri Tran. Carried. Sobeys BBQs Br ROSSLER mentioned that Sobeys accept different groups on weekends to work BBQs outside of their store. Sobeys provides the food and supplies, while the group works the stations. No matter what is sold, your group gets $200. If you sell more than $200, the profits are split between your group and Sobeys A letter requesting some dates needs to be sent out soon, before our available dates fill up Br BZDEL volunteered to handle this
