Our expectation is that 70% or $7,100 will come from the weekly offertory. Parishioners contributed $7,413 for the week ending June 4th. YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED Last year s Grand Annual campaign was successful in raising $10,000 more than the previous year. Thank you for your generosity!! We have used these additional funds to repair the rectory front stairs, cut down dangerous tree limbs, remove the asbestos flooring in O Connell Hall and to make unexpected repairs to the organ for the Easter Season. However, our goal was $119,000, of which $89,000 was raised; $30,000 less than the target. This shortfall was intended to fund the much overdue painting of the church and to seal and repair deep cracks in the parking lot. But in addition to these two projects, we must immediately address the church furnace, which broke down and requires a major overhaul, as well as much needed repairs we have identified in the rectory s offices and living quarters, including falling tiles, water stains, cracked walls, etc. The Parish Finance Council has determined that we need to raise $50,000 to cover the costs of the above four projects: the $30,000 Grand Annual shortfall for the Church painting and parking lot, plus an additional $20,000 for the furnace and rectory repairs. Please prayerfully consider giving what you can to help with these specific projects. If you have any questions, please contact Lynn Jacobs in the Rectory office. Thank you!! June 11, 2017

The Most Holy Trinity Sunday

Sharon, MA Our Lady of Sorrows Parish From Senior Deacon Mike: With the close of the Easter season, the church reverts to Ordinary time wherein we count the Sundays of the remainder of the year. This Sunday is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Think clearly about the meaning of this mystery each time we sign ourselves with the symbol. SEND A REFUGEE CHILD TO CAMP ALDERSGATE IN N. SCITUATE, RI! FCC of Sharon Appeals for Refugee Children at Aldersgate Summer Camp Let s send at least 50 refugee children to camp! The FCC of Sharon announces an appeal to support camping opportunities for refugee children at Camp Aldersgate. Aldersgate is a summer camp and retreat in North Scituate, Rhode Island dedicated to fostering appreciation for diversity in a traditional outdoor camp setting (www.campaldersgate.com). The camp is currently offering refugee families the opportunity for their children to attend camp at a reduced rate of $200 / week. The FCC of Sharon is appealing for donations to support this opportunity as many refugee families have difficulty bearing even this expense. Please send what you can! Checks should be sent to: First Congregational Church of Sharon, PO Box 423, Sharon, MA 02067. Please add the notation, Camp. Trinity Sunday On a beautiful Saturday in May, I sat at a table in the park, reading term papers and enjoying the sights and sounds of spring. My favorite sound is that of little children laughing and squealing as mom and dad play games with them, or throw a ball or sit and eat a picnic lunch. It s the perfect image of family. Love is in the air, infusing the mind and spirit with a sense of peace and joy. There is something about a toddler s laugh that makes you smile with hope and happiness. Angels and perhaps theologians can best explain the mystery of the Trinity, but we all experience the power of God. In every breath, we acknowledge the creative power of the Father; in every good deed, we see the redeeming glory of the Son; in every prayer, we are inspired by the sanctifying Spirit. Faith is an intimate relationship with God and He gives us all that we need to become His people, His ministers, and His church. The Church describes the family as a domestic church. In it, we learn the ways of God, the story of salvation, and the virtues of faith, hope and love. We do not learn our lessons from a book, but from each other; not just form words, but from deeds; not just from explanations, but from example. Like a spring day, faith can infuse us with love and hope so that we grow together, strong and faithful. ~James Gaffney, 2008 Karides Lic. to St. George Publishing Welcome to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.
