CRAFT WEEK 3 Work of Art **You may want to have children decorate their page with tape during free play time at the beginning of the service.** What You Need: Work of Art labels, white cardstock, painter s tape, washable paints, spring loaded clothespins (1 per child), small squares of sponge (1 per child), and wet wipes (as an alternative to paint you may use dot markers) Attach the sponges to the clothespins. Give each child a piece of cardstock. Show children how to add several strips of painter s tape. (Older children may want to make their initials, a cross, the word love, etc. allow children to be creative. Make sure they are making distinct shapes and not just randomly putting tape in little spots. For younger children you may have to apply the painter s tape for them, and just ask for their help to make sure the tape is secure.) Tell children to be careful to push along the edges to seal the tape. Help the children dab the sponges into the paint and onto their papers and cover the page with paint. Allow the papers to dry. Remove painter s tape and place inside white bag. Before the Activity: We are going to make our very own work of art! During the Activity: (Give each child a piece of cardstock.) Look at your paper. It is blank but we are going to make it a work of art. Let s start by adding this blue tape to our pages. (Have a leader sit at each table to help rip the tape and pass it out.) That looks great, but our pages don t have any colors on them. Can you make your paper look colorful? (Demonstrate how to add paint.) Now all we have to do is wait for our pages to dry. After the Activity: Look at how beautiful your pages are! When I look at each of these paintings, they are all beautiful works of art. And when I look at each one of you, I think the same thing! You are beautiful works of art created by our loving God. Joseph trusted God and you can trust God too. All these crazy things that happened to Joseph were all part of God s plan for him. In this week s lesson we learned that Joseph saw his family when they traveled to Egypt to buy grain! Joseph forgave his brothers and the family was together again. God had the BEST plan for Joseph. And God s plan is the best plan for each one of us too. He made us and LOVES us so much. Who has a plan for you? God has a plan for me. He sure does! God loves you so much. How do I know that? Because God made you, and you are a work of art!

CRAFT WEEK 4 Joseph s Story What You Need: Joseph s Story on white cardstock and Picture Page cutouts, and glue sticks Give each child a Joseph s Story Activity Page and each of the four picture cutouts. Allow children to color the pictures. Help children glue the pictures to the four corners of the page. Write the child s name on their activity page and place inside white bag to send home. Before the Activity: We heard an amazing lesson of how Joseph did a big thing. He forgave his brothers for all the yucky things they did because that was part of God s plan. During the Activity: (Give each child an Activity Page.) Find the picture of Joseph and his colorful coat and glue it to the top corner. (Pause.) Now find the picture of Joseph when he was in jail and glue it to the other corner. (Pause.) Good. Now we need to find the picture of a barn and put it in this corner. (Point to the bottom left corner.) We have one more picture. It s the one with Joseph and his family. Glue this last picture to your page. (Pause.) You can use your picture to tell your family all about our Bible lesson and how God had a plan for Joseph. After the Activity: In our Bible lesson today, we learned that Joseph listened to God and followed His plan. Joseph saw his family when they traveled to Egypt to buy grain!

PLAYDOH/PRAYER TIME PLAYDOH/PRAYER TIME What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Playdoh, People Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Sticker Roll SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): It s Playdoh and Prayer time!! The plan for getting to our Small Group spot today is to hop to the (name one spot in your room) and then march to the (name a second spot in your room) and then hop on one foot to our Small Group spot at the tables. Got it? (Name spot one), then (name spot two), and then hop on one foot to the tables. Here we go! (Have the children to follow you and lead them to spot one, then spot two, and then your Small Group spot at the tables.) Yay! We followed the plan right to our Small Group spot. Good job! Let s sit down and talk about today s Bible lesson now. One, two, three, sit down with me! Our Bible lesson today was the end of Joseph s amazing story and the plan God had for him. Joseph ended up in charge of all of Egypt. He was kind of like a king! Joseph s story began with his brothers and the special coat his daddy made him. Then his brothers sent him far, far away from his family where he was put in jail for something he didn t do! Then Pharaoh, who was the king, needed help and Joseph helped him. That s when Pharaoh put Joseph in charge. Then, after Joseph had saved food so all of the people would have something to eat, guess who came to see Joseph. His family! Joseph forgave his brothers! He gave them a big hug and all the food they could eat. He told them God had a plan for him and it was good! God has a plan for someone else too: YOU! That s right! God has a plan for you! Today I want us to make a list of what we think the best plans are. It can be anything from getting all the candy we want to a room filled with toys to learning how to fly an airplane! When I call your name, tell me one thing you think would love to be able to have or do. These are some super great plans! It would be really great if they happened. But guess what! As awesome as these plans are, God s plans are even better. It s true! God s plans are always the very best. Let s pray! Fold your hands like this, bow your heads like this, close your eyes like this, and I ll pray! God s plan is always best. Joseph saw his family when they traveled to Egypt to buy grain! SGL: Ok, it s time to review our lesson. I am going to ask you some questions and you will get a sticker for answering them. I have some really cool stickers today. Are you ready? (Pause.) Great! Go from child to child and have them repeat the memory verse for a sticker. Ask the children the Bottom Line question for a sticker. Using the Parent Take Home card, ask each child individually the questions pertaining to this week s lesson and give out a sticker.
