Christmas Shoe Box Collection Thank you to all those who gave items to this appeal. You ll be pleased to know that Keswick sent 2,600 boxes to a destination at the moment unknown. Our collection was much appreciated to help fill gaps in the contents of boxes. Christmas Post Box The Christmas Postbox will be in the church from today until 17 December. This is for Christmas cards for your friends at church only and if you post cards you re invited to make a donation to Action for Children in the collecting tin next to the postbox. The cards will be sorted and left in alphabetical order on a table at the back of the church during the morning Carol Service on 18 December. The Church Stewards Church Friends As you know, our Pastoral Visitors system is being re-vamped to ease the burden on the present visitors. The Church Leadership Team is putting a new system in place, to be known as Church Friends. Everyone should have been given an information sheet and a questionnaire attached. Please read it carefully and prayerfully and complete the questionnaire. Then please return it into the box provided in the Grisedale Room or give it to a church steward (Richard, Christine, Brian, Anne, Helen or myself) by today, 4 December. Thank you. Great Jigsaw Sale Due to the popularity of the Jigsaw Sale in October we re going to hold another on Tuesday, 18 April 10am 4pm. So we re looking for more jigsaws to sell and people who can check that they have all their pieces. Please contact me if you can donate any jigsaws or take one to check. Thank you. Kate Norburn (017687 74573) Monday Night Ladies Group : 12 December 7.30pm A reminder to all members that our final meeting will be on Monday, 12 December, the second Monday, so as not to clash with Christmas events, at the usual time of 7.30pm, and once again at the home of Jane and Ted in Portinscale. It will be a bumper finale, starting with an illustrated talk by Patricia Howells on an amazing World Heritage Site that she visited in Ethiopia, (postponed because of snow last winter.) Ruth will then lead us through one game (make sure you have your reading specs!) and this will get us into party mood for our bring-and-share supper. So please bring a small contribution to the supper and a small wrapped gift for our Santa Box for each of us to choose from at the end. Once again transport will be arranged for everyone who needs it. Do come and help us to go out with a flourish! Joan Boothroyd (75142) Christian Aid at Christmas Why not give one of your friends a nanny goat or a can of worms this Christmas? The Present Aid catalogue has a wide range of interesting gifts. The nanny goat would give a family in Malawi nourishing goat s milk to drink and sell. A wormery would help a farmer in Bangladesh to boost their crop by producing quality fertiliser. You choose a gift which will help one of Christian Aid s partners around the world and Christian Aid sends you a greetings card which you can send to your friend. Please ask me for a catalogue or call 0333 555 2025 or visit presentaid.org/2016. Roy Ellis (73340)
