July, 2013 VOL. # 1 ONE ISSUE # 6 Christ s Community Church C.C. CHATTER But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 Willis Easley Pastor Here we are in the middle of a busy but exciting summer at Christ s Community Church. Let me begin by giving you the latest information that we have about the building. On July 3 rd, the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association will meet with the Department of Transportation. At that meeting the DOTD will make an official offer to purchase the Eden property. If the offer is acceptable to ELBA, they will most likely vote to accept that offer at their August 5 th Executive Board meeting. If this timeline plays out, we would have 60-90 days from that time to vacate the building. So where do we go from here? We are currently exploring all of our options for a temporary meeting space. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact me about it. We are moving forward with our building plans but they will not be complete in time for us to avoid meeting somewhere else temporarily. How can I help? There will be opportunities over the coming weeks and months for everyone to help with the building. The first thing we need to do is complete our commitment cards. If you have not already done so, we really need everyone that is committed to giving to the building fund to turn in a commitment card. In order for us to complete our financing with the bank we need to be able to show them our ability and commitment to repay the loan. We also need to begin to prepare the property for the building. If you have a tractor, the grass needs to be cut. There are also several trees that need to be cut down so that we can begin to build the driveway into the site and finally, the actual site preparation. Lots of work to be done over the next few weeks and months! Get ready! We still have to be the church while we build the church building! WE have several great opportunities for ministry over the next month. July 15-19 will be our Vacation Bible School and July 20 is our Back to School Haircuts outreach. These two events will give us a great opportunity to reach into the lives of the families in our community. We also have plans for several clothing giveaways in different areas of our community. Make plans to be part of these awesome ministries! Don t just go to church, BE THE CHURCH! JIM FORBES Minister of Music In 1 Corinthians 9:19 Paul says, Although I am a free man and not anyone s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone in order to win more people. Wow! Paul s perspective is really pretty simple. As a child of the one true King, we are heirs with Christ Jesus to the greatest inheritance imaginable. Yet, Paul suggests that we are to put all that away and place the needs of everyone around us above our own so that we may be able to relate to them and ultimately win them to Christ. Can you say, humility, selflessness, etc. I m sure you don t struggle with this the way I do but I often have a hard time moving myself out of the way and putting others around me first. After all I deserve something, right? Yes, I deserve something. The Bible says because I was born into sin, I deserve to be separated from God for all eternity. But thanks to the blood that Jesus shed for me on the cross and the unconditional love that was demonstrated there, the gift that I m entitled to is eternity with my father in heaven. Praise the Lord!!! 1 Corinthians 9:19 Although I am a free man and not anyone s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone in order to win more people. It was great to be back home this morning at CCC. Vacation is wonderful and the 1 st week of PowerLife camp was amazing but there s no place like home. I want to thank Bro. Luke and Bro. Nathan Daigrepont for filling in while we were away. As you go and do in the weeks to come remember that we can be secure in the future that we have as children of God. We don t have to prove anything or rare up and demand our way just because we may feel the need to be right. Allow God s spirit to flow through you go and practice putting the needs of those around you ahead of your own. You may be surprised at how that act of humility can open doors for you to minister. Be Blessed. Jim July VOL. # 1 ONE ISSUE # 6
Children s Ministry JULY VOL. # 1 ISSUE # 6 Hello Friends, Summer is in full force! I hope you are enjoying this time with your children. We have enjoyed the increased number of children joining us on Sunday mornings for children s church. We have rejoiced with the heavens over all the baptism s in the last couple of months. Our children s ministry is growing and we are excited! We are looking forward to the move to our new church home and a little more room to HAVE FUN and PRAISE THE LORD! As you may have heard we have added a Preschool class to our Sunday morning children s church. Ashley McQueary has answered the call to teach our precious little ones. Here is a note from Ashley on what will happen in her class. Randy Randy McKee Children s Pastor Such exciting things are happening in our children's department!! God has been stirring the hearts of our leaders and highlighting our need for a class for children who are too old for the nursery but not quite ready for 'big' children's' church. As an answer to His stirring we have started a separate preschool children's church class for boys and girls age 3 to kindergarten. For our first week of class there were 9 excited students. During the next 12 weeks they will be learning about God through His miracles. Upcoming lessons-- Jesus healing the paralyzed man Jesus heals blind Bartimaeus Jesus calms the storm Jesus feeds many people Jesus brings Jairus's daughter back to life Jesus brings Lazarus back to life Along with the Bible stories they will have a gospel spotlight and memory verse each week. We hope you are as excited as us for this opportunity to see these precious children grow in His word. Ashley

JULY Wednesday Night VOL. #1 ONE ISSUE # 6 Bible Study With Wendell Wendell Dorman I want to remind everyone the Wednesday night Bible study will continue through the summer. Do you have a lot going on this summer? Let me encourage you to sit aside the busyness of life and join us on Wednesday evenings as we look at the gems found in Scripture. We have been going deep in God s Word about the creation of mankind the last couple of weeks and taking a look at the very personal and intimate way God created us. As we move along we will look at the fall of mankind through disobedience and the resulting need for grace. In our Wednesday evening setting, we really strive to take it slow and dig past the surface of God s Word. You are never too late to join us. You have never missed too much to start now! You know, it s funny how God sends things to you or reminds you of something when you need it the most. Aren t you glad God is always on time! I read a story that was first published in Daily Bread August 29, 1989 I want to share with you Scottish minister Alexander Whyte was known for his uplifting prayers in the pulpit. He always found something for which to be grateful. One Sunday morning the weather was so gloomy that one church member thought to himself, "Certainly the preacher won't think of anything for which to thank the Lord on a wretched day like this." Much to his surprise, however, Whyte began by praying, "We thank Thee, O God, that it is not always like this." I think Pastor Whyte sure had the spirit of Philippians 4: 6, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Notice how this verse of scripture would still make sense if with thanksgiving was not written. Go ahead, try it It is by prayer and supplication that we make our request made known to God; hummm... Wrapped up in the middle of scripture about prayer are the words, with thanksgiving. We would certainly say one must never misquote scripture by leaving part of it out, but the truth is many times we leave out the spirit of in thanksgiving in our prayers. We would all agree that praying with a spirit of thanksgiving is so important as we go before the LORD in prayer. Now take a look at God s promise through Paul if we will pray, in thanksgiving, Vv. 7, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Do you need some of that kind of peace in your life; the kind that surpasses all understanding? Give it a try; pray with thanksgiving. God promises His Word will never come back void! Let me experience Your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in You. Reveal to me the way I should go, because I long for You. Psalms 143: 8 Wendell
