CONCORDIA S PURPOSE To Make the Love of Jesus R.E.A.L. in the Lives of All People SECOND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST June 2, 2013 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. AS WE GATHER (prepared by Jim Gann) Is faith the work of God, or is faith the act of man? On the one hand the scriptures tell us that our faith is of the powerful working of God. [Colossians 2:12] God (the Holy Spirit) is the one who places and nourishes faith in our hearts so that we believe in Christ. One can have an intellectual knowledge of the Law and the Gospel and still not believe. But, it is by faith that we believe the Gospel. Surely, it is God Who creates and sustains our spiritual lives. Yet, because it is we who are doing the believing in our hearts and souls, faith, in this case, is an act of man. So what is faith? It is both: the work of God and the act of man. means to be seated means to stand, unless repeated standing is difficult PRELUDE CALL TO WORSHIP RINGING OF THE BELLS OPENING HYMN #817, v.1, 6, 7 Earth and All Stars 1
