Request homework by 10 am to allow time to gather materials for the end of the day pick up. A Few Points from the Principal Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 25th. Mrs. G is looking for parent volunteers to help with the students in grades 3, 4 and 5 at 9:00 to 10:45. (The older students help the younger students in grades K, 1 and 2). If you want to help with this fun and exciting day and have been fingerprinted by the district, email Mrs. G at mary.grdadolnik@kirtlandschools.org. Mark your calendar, the KES Drive in Movie Night is scheduled for May 31st. See p. 2 for more details. As has been the tradition, students who attend the Drive-In Movie Night on the last day of school are asked to donate non-perishable food items as their admission to this end of the year celebration. To streamline this event, Student Council will be collecting food at school beginning on Monday, May 21 and running until the last day of school to avoid a large collection at the drive-in and hopefully to yield a larger amount of food for the Kirtland UCC Food Pantry. See p. 3 for details. Thank you to all that registered Kirtland Elementary School with Heinen s. A check was received for $1,100 to use toward student materials and activities! Summer CHAMPS camp will be taking place again this Summer starting on July 16th for students currently in grades K,1, 2 and 3. See p. 4 and 5 for more details. April 8, 2018 Last year, I held a fundraiser at St. John Vianney to raise money for the Cleveland Sight Center. I was able to raise more than $11,000 thanks to the donations of many people, organizations, and businesses. This year, I am doing things a little differently. Instead of a fundraising event, I am seeking donations to raise money for the Cleveland Sight Center s White Cane Walk on June 2 nd. The White Cane Walk is the Cleveland Sight Center's annual event to raise critical dollars needed to support their mission and raise awareness of their agency and the services they provide to people who are blind or have low vision. These funds are vital to keep many programs and services available to clients, many of which are not covered by medical insurance, including white canes. For every $25 donated, you will be entered in a drawing for prizes including: Two sets of Cleveland Indians tickets located behind the Indians dugout Basket with $100 worth of lottery tickets Packages of golf for 4 donated by Fowler s Mill, Legend Lake, Powderhorn, and St. Denis Restaurant gift cards donated by Crostatas Pizzeria, Firehouse Grille & Pub, Just One More Tavern, Smokin Q s BBQ If you are interested in supporting my fundraiser, then please make your check out to the Cleveland Sight Center and mail it to: Jonah Cummings 7962 Barristers Ct Kirtland, OH 44094 Credit card donations can be made by visiting the Jonah s Vision website https://www.crowdrise.com/whitecanewalk All donations need to be received prior to May 24 th in order to qualify for the prize drawings. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my father, Brion, at (216) 276-0989. You are also welcome to join me and my family as we walk 1 mile through beautiful University Circle on June 2 nd. To register to walk, visit www.whitecanewalk.org and select Register to Walk. From there, you will have the option to join my Jonah s Vision team as part of the registration process and will get an event t-shirt at the walk! Sincerely, Jonah Cummings
