TRAMEL 12 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 13 A PIECE FROM THE WORD 02 Published by IPHC World Missions Ministries Bishop Talmadge Gardner, Editor & Chief Madeline Raglin, Editor Images are credited to IPHC unless otherwise noted.

A NOTE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Terry, Max, Bryan, and I have just returned from South Africa where we were invited to be a part of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of South Africa s Mid-Term Conference. It was a joy to serve National Overseer, Presiding Bishop Joel Dibetsoe and his wife, Khumo, and this part of our faith family. The Conference was hosted in Pretoria one of the country s three capital cities, serving as the seat of the administrative branch of government and of foreign embassies to South Africa. By the conclusion of the Conference, there were around 1,000 attendees. Bishop Talmadge Gardner Terry preached in the Thursday and Friday evening services. His ministry was well received. He is a great preacher and gift to WMM and the IPHC. Max spoke on the assigned topics: Repositioning the Next Generation and Bridging Generations. Max s passion for his generation and his anointing made an impact on those in attendance. At the conclusion of Max s second session, 15 attendees publicly affirmed that they felt called to be cross-cultural missionaries. We are looking forward to hosting our first Africa Quest on the continent of Africa in the near future. Bryan s assigned topic was on People to People. The PHC-SA has just established their own non-profit ministry status that dovetails with several initiatives that PTP excels in. Bryan is a very effective communicator and has a passion for serving. PTP, through Bryan s leadership, is positioning themselves to become a beneficial ministry partner to our South Africa Church. I was asked to speak on the assigned topics: Partnering-Arise 2033 and Repositioning the Church for the Great Harvest. Our Regional Director for Southern Africa, Joe and Maggie Delport, were the consummate hosts. Joe s presentation followed mine on Thursday and he masterfully addressed the topic Positioning Southern Africa for the Great Harvest. Joe and Maggie are dearly loved and respected by our church in South Africa. They are also exemplary missionaries! Left to Right: Max Barroso, Bryan Nix, Joe Delport, Bishop Talmadge Gardner, Bishop Joel & Khumo Dibetsoe, and Dr. Terry Tramel 03

The IPHC s ministry presence in Africa was birthed when God sent missionaries to the continent of Africa and the country of South Africa 105 years ago or, as D.D. Freeman describes it in Missions on the March: In sunny Southern Africa in 1913, in the will of God, there was born a Pentecostal church that was destined to draw Southern Africa with her nationalities, tribes and tongues, nearer God. The name of this organization was The Pentecostal Holiness Church. According to the Joshua Project data base, the continent of Africa has: A population of 1,284,378,000 It is comprised of 58 countries. The PHC has a ministry presence in 28 of these countries There are 3,687 people/ethnic groups in these 58 countries 988 or 26.8% of these people/ethnic groups are designated as Unreached People Groups The population of those that are Unreached is 360,901,000 Meaning that 28.1% of the population in this continent is Unreached According to the Joshua Project data base, South Africa has: A population of 57,296,000 There are 65 people/ethnic groups in this country Eight or 12.3% of these people/ethnic groups are designated as Unreached People Groups The population of those that are Unreached is 956,000 or 1.7% The legacy of our ministry in South Africa, and Africa as a whole, is unparalleled/unequaled in the IPHC. No continent has experienced more growth than they have and no nation on the continent of Africa has more potential than South Africa does. Join us in praying for South Africa as they envision their future. May they: PRAY like they have never prayed before for laborers, harvesters, and shepherds EVANGELIZE and reach out with love and compassion to those who are hurting, helpless, and hopeless DISCIPLE believers PLANT churches STRATEGICALLY TARGET the Unreached & unengaged CHANGE their mindset & paradigm as they transition from being a RECEIVING to a SENDING NATION This is the final issue of The Call for 2018. Thank you for your generosity and faith in our shared vision. We trust that you and yours have a Merry Christmas as we, like the wise men of old, celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our soon coming King and Redeemer! I hope you know how truly grateful we are for your partnership. If you would ever like more information on the stewardship of your gift, please do not hesitate to let us know. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. MEET YASINTA MREMA In August 2003, Kundael and Yasinta Mrema started mission work in Tanzania. In 2006, Kundael was appointed as regional director for Central Africa: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. They traveled to these countries until January 8th, 2018 when Kundael passed ITINERATING MISSIONARIES Mark & Jeannie McClung Ron & Phyllis Roy The Shirey Family Darrel & Bonnie Clowers Kevin & Summer Sneed Jason & Catrina Bicket David & Michelle Riley Albert & Jiep Gonzales away. The work included preaching, teaching, building churches, drilling wells, etc. The work of God continues in Kundael's absence because Jesus is alive and still building His church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. Yasinta is determined to continue the mission work, but this time in Tanzania only. She is preaching the gospel, teaching, building churches, and drilling TO LEARN ABOUT HAVING THESE MISSIONARIES COME TO YOUR HOME CHURCH, PLEASE CALL: (888)474-2966 wells as the Lord provides. Please pray that Yasinta's ministry will continue to be blessed, and that she will not miss what the Lord has for her to do during this new season. 05

A First in Trinidad - IPHC Building By Darrel Clowers We are so blessed to be building our first church on our own IPHC property in Trinidad. Previously, we were never able to purchase land that was zoned for building. Each and every time the government would put road blocks in our way to stop the process. So often, we come across difficult situations and give up. However, we have learned that in God's timing, all things are possible. When it came to Trinidad, we knew that God was able. Pastor Andrew Sinanan, our National leader in Trinidad, leads a great work that they started years ago, but they never had their own land. Last year, they had to leave a facility that they were using because of a natural gas main that was too close. They were not sure what they would do, but God had other plans! Breaking Ground in Trinidad "IT'S NOT THE LOAD THAT WEIGHS YOU DOWN, IT'S HOW YOU CARRY IT." - C.S. LEWIS A dear lady in the church donated land to the church that was already zoned for building. This blessing was further proof that we can count on God's timing. They have now started putting in the road and getting the foundation ready to build. Together, with the help of the Appalachian Conference, who sent a team under the leadership of Conference Mission Director Larry Meadors and the money they raised for this project, we will be building our first IPH church facility on our own land in Trinidad. God is good! 06 Working in Trinidad

Sharon Church Congregation "LOVE CARES MORE ABOUT WHO S HURTING THAN WHO S WATCHING." - BOB GOFF 2019 Link Prayer Guide Sharon Church - Malawi By Joe Delport Can you imagine attending church every week in an old dilapidated building like in the photo to the left? On December 2, Rev. Joe Delport, regional director of Southern Africa, attended a service here at Sharon. This is the first church built in Malawi, by Missionary Rev. John Guthrie, in the early 1950's. Rev. Althea Meyer, the resident missionary in Malawi, felt moved to help this congregation build a new church. With much prayer and support, the new church has been built to roof level. All that is needed is a steel roof, which will cost $9,000 to complete. If you want to bless someone with a beautiful Christmas gift, this would be a worthwhile investment. 2019 Link Prayer Guide The 2019 Link Prayer Guide is now available. This annual publication is a 31 day prayer guide that will take you on a journey of prayer for each region, missionary, and ministry involved in making WMM a great work in advancing the Kingdom. You will also find, highlighted, a day of prayer to correlate with the national days of prayer for both the persecuted church and the people groups who have yet to be reached with the gospel. It is our goal that, through prayer, financial support, and obedience to the Great Commission, many people will hear the gospel for the first time in the year 2019. If you would like to join our missions family in 31 days of prayer, you may order the 2019 Link Prayer guide, at no cost to you, at www.iphc.org/missions/promo. 07

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE By Rev. Bryan Nix Director of People to People & TEAMS Ministries Merry Christmas! MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT It is an exciting time for People to People Ministries. The birth of our Savior provides us an excellent opportunity to show His love and care to children in our program. We have hosted Christmas parties in countries throughout the world, and Christ has been the complete center of attention. I was personally able to attend two different parties. One in Kenya and the other in Lesotho. The kids greatly enjoyed their gifts. People to People missionaries, Jamie and Jessica Dunning, have done a phenomenal job coordinating gifts and a time of celebration throughout Kenya. They always go above and beyond with their efforts. In Lesotho, I was overjoyed to spend Christmas with friends. The children in the People to People program in Lesotho have been through incredibly traumatic experiences, but children thrive when placed in loving homes. Our Christmas parties proved to be an exciting time for them! Thank you to those who have partnered with us by donating towards Christmas Spirit. Your contributions have touched the lives of children across the globe. 08

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT 09

SERMON SERIES FOR MISSIONS Volume 6 By Dr. Terry Tramel Now, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him. (Matthew 2:1-2) And going into the house, they saw the Child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11) 1) What the Wise Men Did They brought valuable gifts from their own country to the body of Christ. 2) What We Can Also Do We can send money & gifts to the Body of Christ who are serving Him in other countries. 3) They followed the Star so they could Give - (Matthew 2:2-10) 4) We can follow the Scriptures so we can Give (Acts 20:35) 5) The gifts of the Wise Men were used to help the body of Christ to grow as an infant in Egypt. (Matthew 2:13-15) 6) Our gifts to IPHC World Missions Ministries can help the Body of Christ to grow in over 97 countries where we have a ministry presence. 10

MERRY CHRISTMAS

12 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? James & Joyce Ward James and Joyce Ward met at Holmes Bible College and were married in 1965. The couple spent close to 10 years on the mission field with World Missions Ministries in Guatemala. Throughout their time of service, Mr. Ward traveled nearly a four-hour distance each school day to teach at a Bible institute. At the same time, Joyce loved working in medical clinics. She said encountering the long lines of people in these clinics quickly became the highlight of her time in missions. Together, the Wards also worked with People to People and deem it rewarding to have been a part of helping children receive education, clothing, and food. The Wards were career missionaries on the mission field, and they have expressed that they "would not exchange the years of opportunity to serve on the field" for anything in the world. Now, James and Joyce Ward are retired in Greensboro, NC. James currently suffers from Parkinson's disease and is legally blind. While the two attend their local church, this illness keeps them from being as involved in ministry as they would like. However, the advancement of the Kingdom remains in their daily prayers. When asked if she had any wisdom to share with the younger generation, Joyce responded, "Build relationships. Relationships are the most important thing. Get to know people." She also sent encouragement to those who desire to enter into ministry by expressing, "Do not try to solve all problems. Your ministry will be beautiful when the Lord leads it." If you would like to send a card to honor the Wards, you may direct all mail to 505 Shelby Dr., Greensboro, NC 27409.

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. " Matthew 24:14 13
