NYI Convention 2016 Details We re stoked that you are here with us this weekend! It s cool to think that God s been at work in each of our lives and now has us together to celebrate and be shaped by him together today! Purpose: The purpose of NYI Convention is to encourage the advancement of youth ministry across the district through celebrating God-stories, praying, connecting youth and youth workers to others from across the district, promoting upcoming events, and electing district officers. THREE VOTING MATTERS NYI Convention 2016 Details We have three primary matters to deal with through voting. First is the election of our district NYI Council. Second is the election of our General NYI Convention Delegates. This will be done electronically in the cameo lobby. Third, is the approval of the budget reports from the NYI Council. This will be done during the afternoon session. All voting is done by the NYI delegates who were confirmed at registration and were approved and sent by their local churches. EVENING WORSHIP NYI and NMI are partnering in a service that will focus on God s call on each of our lives, creating space for us to pray together, hear stories of youth on a mission and for teens to respond to God s call on their lives. Kris Beckert will lead us in the preaching and the ENC Team will lead us in singing that evening.

What is Festival of Life: It s one of the biggest events of the year, where you get to share your talents! Whether you play basketball, play chess, are a great photographer, or a great painter, Festival of Life has a place for you. This is a weekend where our District gets together, and competes in various sports, music, and art talent competitions. Not only do you get a chance to share your talent and glorify God, but you have the opportunity to make some new friends along the way! What Areas of Talent Are There: Sports you can compete in include: basketball, soccer, volleyball, chess, table tennis, and math science quizzing. Arts and Music categories include painting, sculpture, crafts, drawings, photography, drama, group puppetry, poetry, creative writing, creative worship (dance), vocal solos, vocal groups, choir, bands, instrumental solo, instrumental group, and piano. Each student can participate in one sport and up to five arts and music category (but only one in each category). When and Where is It: At the Bel Air Church of the Nazarene on January 27-28 2017 Is There Anything Else I Should Know: This event is open to grades 6th-12 th. We hope that everyone will come and that you will bring your friends too! If you are a 8 h -12 th grader, know that if you come in the top two of the categories of the events you are competing, or are chosen as an all-star for a sports team, you will be invited to represent our district at the Regional event taking place at Eastern Nazarene College, in Boston, March 16-19, 2017!
