MILITARY: Please pray for our women and men in the Armed Forces and their families Catechesis Please Pray For... To add a name to our Prayer List, please contact Chris Johnson, cjohnson@stmarkindy.org Mark 9:36-37 Taking a child he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it he said to them, 'Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me'. The St. Mark Parish is truly blessed to have a dedicated group of parishioners who are willing to volunteer their time to make the Coffee and Doughnuts social gathering that follows the 7:30am and 9:30am masses possible. The Pastoral Council was approached by a parishioner who was concerned that the children running around during Coffee and Doughnuts could possibly become a fall hazard for parishioners who have stability issues. The Pastoral Council has met with the leadership of the Coffee and Doughnuts ministry about the concern. The leadership of the Coffee and Doughnuts ministry is looking into creating a children s area, with activities, in the gym after the 9:30am mass, so the children of the St. Mark parish can have a place where they can run around and be children, without accidentally running into a parishioner who is dealing with stability issues. The St. Mark Pastoral Council asks that all parishioners who are 15 years or older to pray and consider volunteering to help with the Coffee and Doughnuts ministry. If you would like to become involved in this important ministry please contact Angi Swiezy in the Parish Center or by e-mail at aswiezy@stmarkindy.org and she will be happy to get you set-up. 2018-2019 Pastoral Council Executive Committee Nathan Campbell - Chairperson Spencer Hanson - Vice Chairperson David Olivares - Secretary Members at Large Jesse Cleary, Kirstia Cropper, Jerry French, James Haeberle, John Hibner, and Bric Shires

Scheduling times and partnering instructors will be handled according to your own availability. For more information, or to offer your services, please email Ginny O Brien at danginnyo@sbcglobal.net. Thank you so much in advance for your generous giving of your time. Plan to enjoy your experience! ST. MARK CARD PARTY: The St. Mark Monthly Card Party will be held in the Narthex on Thursday, August 23rd, starting at 1:00 pm. We play progressive euchre and the cost is $1.00 to play, which includes refreshments. You are always encouraged to bring a friend. See you there! INCLUSION MINISTRY: FALSE PERCEPTIONS The biggest barrier people with disabilities face is other people s perceptions of them. Wheelchairs are simply devices, like glasses or bicycles, that help with people with disabilities to better do what they want and get what they need. Just because someone uses a device to help does not mean that he or she cannot be independent and productive. Dear Jesus, help me remember the person I am walking beside is a person first and that their disability does not define them. Help me treat the person I serve with respect, dignity, compassion, and understanding. Help me learn to appreciate our differences Thank you, Lord, for this amazing opportunity to serve your people in this way. I ask that you please bless the work of my hands. Amen occatholic.com/serving-those-with-special -needs Q-tips and Cotton Tops All parishioners over 50; couples and singles are invited to a fun GAME AFTERNOON, Friday, August 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cenacle. Please join us for a fun afternoon. Since we will be providing a light lunch, please register by calling Wilma Cross (317) 403-8238 or Linda Carde (317) 783-9903 by August 21. "LOVE, JOY, AND PEACE" within reach of every hand! COME AND SEE (JOHN 1:39) In the gospel, Jesus asks his first followers What are you looking for? They respond by wanting to know more about Him, where he lives. Jesus says to them, Come and you will see. Jesus extends that same invitation to the men and women of today. In a world increasingly alienated from God, many people are looking for a place that gives meaning and significance to their lives. The Inquiry Stage of the Rite of Christian of Adults will be starting on September 5th, here a St. Mark. Is there someone in your family, workplace or circle of friends and acquaintances who is searching and may be wondering what the Catholic Church is all about? Here is your opportunity to share your faith by inviting them to attend our Inquiry evenings. There is never any pressure or obligation by attending these sessions. We allow the Holy Spirit to speak to each inquirer right where they are. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please encourage them to contact the Parish Center; 317-787-7246 or Deacon Paul at deaconpaul@stmarkindy.org or Angi Swiezy at swiezy@stmarkindy.org.
