Building Heart Muscles... In Prayer Prelude 8:15a.m. Morning Has Broken 10:45 a.m. Rich Harney Call to Worship Opening Hymn #556 Morning Has Broken *Time of Honesty Leader: As we gather around the Baptismal Font, we are reminded that you, O God, have All: called us and claimed us as your own, children of the same heavenly father. Father, we thank you for the gift of a relationship with you. Leader: Even though we fail to live up to your will, you hold us close and comfort us. All: Mother, we thank you for your warm embrace. Leader: As you walked the streets of Jerusalem, you never looked past an individual, each one was special. All: Jesus, we thank you for knowing us by name. Leader: Your Spirit sets us free from our selfish ways so that we can look up and see one another with love. All: Holy Spirit, pour into our hearts the gift of love, that we may share the joy of friendship, human and divine, revealed in the love of Jesus Christ. Pastor: Let us pray. Almighty God, by the power of the spirit you have knit your servants into the one body of your Son, Jesus Christ. Look with favor upon them in their commitment to live out their baptismal identity. Give them courage, patience, and vision; and strengthen us all in our Christian vocation of witness to the world and our service to others; through Jesus Christ our Lord, All: Amen *Please stand as you are able. 2
*Song of Response Father, I Adore You (Please feel free to come forward to the baptismal font) Verse 1 Father, I adore You. Lay my life before You. How I love You. Verse 2 Jesus,... Verse 3 Spirit, Verse 4 Three in One,... Pastor: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all All: And also with you. Pastor: Let us pray. *Prayer of the Day Welcome / Life in Community Children s Message The children may bring their offerings forward at this time for Side by Side Kids. After the Children s Message, children may be taken to the preschool nursery or return to their families. Children who remain with their families are invited to quietly enjoy the two coloring stations in the sanctuary. (Please sign and pass the attendance book at this time.) Scripture Reading...Psalm 119:1-8 (NRSV) Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord. Happy are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways. You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous ordinances. I will observe your statutes; do not utterly forsake me. 3
*Alleluia Response #172 Halle, Halle, Hallelujah (2x) *Holy Gospel...Matthew 6:5-13 (NRSV) And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. P: The Gospel of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Message Building Heart Muscle...In Prayer Pr. Felix Malpica *Message Song #739 Touch the Earth Lightly *Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 4

Communion Music 8:15a.m. Senior Choir The Beatitudes Russian Chant 10:45 a.m. Rich Harney Communion Blessing Installation of Leah Jarvis / Director of Youth Ministries *Benediction *Sending Song In Christ Alone Verse 1 In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All- Here in the love of Christ I stand. Verse 2 In Christ alone, who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied: For every sin on Him was laid- Here in the death of Christ I live. Verse 3 There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious Day, Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, Sin's curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine- Bought with the precious blood of Christ. Verse 4 No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home- Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. *Please stand as you are able. 6
