Training for Eternity V E N I C E C H R I S T I A N S C H OOL November 9, 2018 The Lion s Roar Dates to Remember Mon. - Fri. Nov. 19th - 23rd Thanksgiving break Fri. Nov. 30th - Picture retakes/class pictures Fri. Dec. 14th, 6:30 pm - VCS Christmas Program at Venice Church of the Nazarene Christian Education Distinctives We read in the Gospel of John... Sanctify them through thy truth, thy Word is Truth. (John 17:17) Biblical integration involves the application of Truth into every academic discipline. It allows us to discover what is excellent in His sight. The secular humanistic posture found deeply rooted in secular education does have a dramatic influence on our children. On the next page, you will see a comparison of 10 distinctive differences between Christian and public. Please take time to read and think about these differences. The home is the primary sphere of influence and certainly the church should have a large impact, but the secular humanistic mindset seeks to unravel the Biblical core values and principles parents desire to teach. I continue to pray for God to open up our eyes to what is best for our children. May He give us understanding and Wisdom. Be blessed. Please continue logging in to SchoolWorx for a live report card for your student. Jerry Frimmel Principal If you have questions regarding your student s grades, please contact their teacher by email. Mark your calendars for the annual Venice Christian School Christmas program. Date: December 14th Time: 6:30 pm Place: Venice Church of the Nazarene 1535 E Venice Avenue We look forward to having you celebrate our Savior s Birthday with us. An opportunity to serve... The Twig Warehouse is a local service for foster families. They provide clothes and other needed items at no cost to foster families. Families come to the store and shop for what they need. Check out their website for more information http://www.thetwigcares.com. One of our 2nd graders, Matthew Baumhardt, came up with a plan to bless these children. During the next few weeks, we are collecting birthday cards and small packets of confetti to put in the birthday cards. These cards and confetti will be taken to The Twig staff and given to children as they come in during their birthday month. Just send the cards/confetti in with your child to the teacher by November 16th. Thanks for helping! We collected 139 Operation Christmas Child boxes from the VCS family! Thanks for everyone s help. 3
Early Dismissal Please call ahead if you need your child ready for early dismissal when you arrive on campus. Depending on where your student is (like the gym or playground) when you arrive, a few minutes might be necessary to get the student ready to leave. Please keep in mind pedestrian traffic is not allowed in the parking lot between 3 and 3;35, so allow time for your child to be called from class and for you to return to your car before 3:00. Contact your child s teacher in advance if you need your student dismissed early or if homework is needed. The teacher can not always have the work ready immediately upon request. Photos and Social Media With so many classes having fall parties coming up, please keep in mind these guidelines for photographing during the parties. If you take photographs of students other than your own, please get permission from their parents before posting pictures to any social media websites. There are several families who do not want their students pictures posted on the internet. Thank you!
