January - first half - 2017 What do an itinerant carpenter, an Episcopal priest, a mean guitaris, an elder from south Alabama and a nation coming from a season of wearying division have in common? I pray that they have a great deal in common. This is the commonality for which I pray: My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one I in them and you in me so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. - Jesus the Christ from the Gospel of John, the seventeenth chapter Hope s home is at the innermost point in us, and in all things. It is a quality of aliveness. It does not come at the end, as the feeling that results from a happy outcome. Rather, it lies at the beginning, as a pulse of truth that sends us forth. Hope fills us with the strength to stay present, to abide in the flow of Mercy no matter what outer storms assail us. It is entered always and only through surrender; that is, through the willingness to let go of everything we are presently clinging to. - Rev. Cynthia Bourgeault When the Power of Love becomes Stronger than the Love of Power we will have Peace - Jimi Hendricks Let s put legs on those prayers! - Opi Dean Goodin We have an opportunity to do just that - put legs on unity and love and peace. Join us on Sunday January 15th 2017, for a peaceful event to show the unifying and transformative power of love in the world.

The mission of Circle the Cities with Love is to stand together holding hands in silent meditation embodying the power of LOVE that brings healing, peace, and justice to our cities, our country, and our world around the inauguration of the president elect and all the demonstrations being held throughout the week. Why: Our nation has just endured one of the most divisive and hate-filled seasons in our history. We have the opportunity to begin anew. Who: People who believe in the power of love over the power of hate What: The simple act of holding hands and standing together as one in intentional silence for 30 minutes. Where: North Canton Location: Faith United Methodist Church @ 300 9th St. NW North Canton, Ohio Locations Across the Nation and Beyond View existing groups HERE When: We will begin to gather at 2:30PM in the East parking lot. We will begin a ½ hour of intentional silence at 3:00PM in prayer, meditation, thought for the ways in which LOVE can work in and through us to be a source of life-giving transformation. Please register through Eventbrite By Registering: I pledge to be substance free, nonviolent and nonpartisan, putting the power of LOVE that brings healing, peace, and justice into our cities, our country. and our world, by standing/sitting in silence for one half hour in the spirit of love around the inauguration of the president elect and all the demonstrations being held throughout the week. Share this great opportunity to enter into the new year with the LOVE of Jesus in our sights. Pastor Cara

Vine and Branches Update 2016 When: Wednesday, January 04, 2017 at 10:28 am From Rev. Larry and Cheryl Morrison 2016 Highlights from Vine and Branches (One of FUMC Service in Missions Easter/Christmas Offering recipients) Dear friends, God is a Great and Mighty God! Every year for the past 12 years it has been my privilege to write an annual summary of the mission and ministry of the vine and branches India ministry foundation. I do it to give honor and glory to a mighty and powerful and merciful god, and also to give honor and glory to the many that have annually supported our work in the greater Mumbai area of India, people like you. Thank you. It has been a challenging year for us in that just a little over a year ago; i was diagnosed With myasthenia gravis, an auto-immune disease for which there is no cure. I read an article from the Cleveland Clinic that said, this disease is controlable and will not kill you! Then in the middle of the night, while lying in bed, a very clear and audible voice spoke to me and said, you will not die! By may of this year, dr. Bonda, cleared me to return to our ministry in India and Israel. Needless to say due to my illness we were not able to get out and speak to community Groups and religious groups as we had done in years past. In the last hour, and just days before our scheduled departure, he provided! Through individual donations, and by the support of a local church, and its vacation bible school program, we were able to meet our goal for 2016. Praise God, He is a Mighty and Great God! In 2017 please pray for the following; Drilling a fresh water borewell, support for two local slum pastors, support for two local pre-school ministries, mothers and pastors teaching conferences, medical clinic that ministers to those enslaved to prostitution. Thank you for your prayer support. We and the people of Mumbai are blessed. Larry F. Morrison Larry F. Morrison, D.Min.
