As we honor these important moments in the lives of our younger friends, I encourage you to take a moment and pray over them individually. While we cheer them on, we also know God has much more in store for each of them. We pray these special moments will be but stepping stones that spur them on to be lifelong learners not just of the world but of the One who created the world. The Lord bless and keep you! The youth were asked to share their confirmation scripture and to answer this question: What will you walk away with from your confirmation experience or how has confirmation impacted your faith? Blake Brown Scripture: John 3:16 I will walk away with knowing that I have come closer to Jesus. I learned lots about the Bible and an understanding of it. That is what I will walk away with. Jeremiah Chase Scripture: Matthew 17:20 It has taught me that God will be with me all the time. I am never afraid to walk alone because I know Jesus will always be on my side. My faith has strengthened over my 2 years of confirmation classes. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to join confirmation. In confirmation was the first real time I learned about the Bible and cared about learning it. 4 Congo Clinic Initiative Membership Class Pastor Linnea is looking at offering a membership class in May or June. Please talk with her if you are interested in learning more about becoming a member of Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church. We have paid our 2017 pledge and are now working towards 2018! $1,426 A SPRRINGFEST THANK YOU! It is an amazing site to watch everyone from our church come together to prepare and serve our community a hearty and tasty meal and this year did not disappoint. Thank you to all who served donated, sold tickets and enjoyed the meal. This event raises the financial resources we need to provide Pioneer Club to our community, sharing God s love and grace in a very tangible way to many. It is our prayer that God multiplies these gifts for His glory! Total Raised: $3,431.98 (Movers - of the - Bible) Adult Bible Study Starting April 30th Sundays at 7:00 PM In Church Library Nearly New We have had a blast this year at M.O.B. and have grown in our knowledge of Christ and the Bible. May what we have learned over the year be put into action. M.O.B. will resume monthly meetings in September. Have a super summer and we will see you next fall! We have almost met our fundraising goal to send these youth to serve in Milwaukee. Thank you for your support. We ask now that you keep these youth in your prayers that their hearts and minds begin to prepare for what the Lord has in store for them this summer. 5 Register For Camp Community VBS June 4th 7th At Covenant When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12 You can still register for camp. Covenant Cedars Bible Camp offers great programs for all ages. To find out more information or to register go to www.cedars.org. Wakefield Covenant has a Camp Committee and fund to help you send your kids to camp. We are in need of the following donations: Explorer (5th & 6th) June 25-30 Jr. High (7th & 8th) July 2-7 brown craft paper (by the roll preferably) Sr. High (9th - 12th) July 9-14 cans of spray foam (the kind that you use as crack sealer). large pieces of styrofoam board, any sizes of plastic pop/water bottles to be saved for us!! Money donations to help buy supplies. Pathfinders (1st & 2nd) June 17-18 Last Chance (3rd-12th) August 2-4 Silent Auction Camp Fundraiser Thank You The Silent Auction was again a great way to raise funds to send youth to camp. A total of $945 was collected from bids and an additional $425 was given in donation for a TOTAL OF $1,370. Thank you to all who donated and placed bids this year. You are greatly appreciated and we pray God s blessing on each of you. The Camp Committee Camper Sponsorship The camp fund provides $100 for each camper we send. However, we have a few kids that could use extra sponsorship to help them go to camp. If anyone would like to sponsor a child to go to camp let a committee member know. Thank you for all your support in sending kids to camp! There will be tubs at the churches for any donations, or please get a hold of Sherri Wittler-Lundahl, or Michelle SchockBoeckenhauer. Thanks for your help in making this a great experience for our area kids!!

6 Wakefield High School I plan to attend the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and live in the dorms on East Campus in the fall. I will major in Agricultural Business with a minor in either agricultural communications or economics. I am so excited for this next step in my life and ready to see what the Lord has planned for my future. Thank you for all the support throughout my life, I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for the strong faith foundation through the church. Everyone is invited to attend my graduation party at my house after the ceremony on May 21, 2017. Thank you again for all the love and support throughout my journey of life so far. Heidi Borg I am going to * * * * * 2017 Graduates My plan for next year is finishing my last high school year in Italy (the 5th one) and hopefully graduating there too! Guilia Ballarini I am planning on attending Northeast Community College and UNMC to study nursing. I would like to thank the congregation for supporting me in all the activities that I have participated in throughout the years. Megan Borg Megan Wayne State College and majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Art Education. Avery Zamzow 2017 College Graduate Jenna Henderson Jenna, daughter of Tammie & Mike Mogus will be receiving her nursing pin this May. Congratulations to all the graduates this year. You are in our prayers for God s guidance and blessings on your lives.

7 This year at its we celebrated as a church the 25th Anniversary of Pioneer Clubs ministry here at Wakefield Covenant Church. It was an egg smashing fun time of carnival games for the kids as the adults reminisced about their own time participating in Pioneer Clubs. Thank you everyone who has helped to lead, teach, prepared Snak Shak meals and participated in this great program. May God continue to help the seeds planted by this program to grow deep in the hearts of all who have taken part. PLANNING FOR CHIC 2018 SEE YOU NEXT FALL! Let Us Haul Your Trash For You! Local youth are planning to attend CHIC 2018 (Covenant High In Christ) and would like to help you haul your trash to raise funds so they can go to this Christian event. During Wakefield s Community-Wide Clean-Up on Saturday, May 6th from 8a.m. 11a.m. ONLY. They will come to your residence, and haul your stuff to the drop-off site for a free-will donation.
