Lottie Moon Christmas Offering 2018 Every Church. Every Nation It s more than a catch phrase. It s at the core of what we do. We believe every church and every church member has a critical role to play in bringing the gospel to the world. Your church s participation in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is a key part of that. Your Gifts Transform Lives Because you and your church give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, IMB missionaries can take the gospel to unreached peoples around the world. Every dollar you give makes a difference, because 100% of the money collected goes to the work of reaching every nation. Diaper Bank News We need churches willing to sponsor the Diaper Bank each month. This would consist of holding a diaper drive in your church and manning our distribution on Wednesdays from 9 am until noon. The month of January has already been reserve. Please call the resource center at 910-754-7979 to volunteer. WHICH MONTH CAN WE RESERVE FOR YOU? Christmas Toy Store Building a Bridge from a Need - to Help and Salvation in Christ 1. What is a Toy Store? A Store where parents or guardians who can t afford to buy toys for their children for Christmas, BUY NEW toys. Then counseling is provided to find out if there are another needs: clothes, food, etc. Always, the plan of salvation in Christ is shared. 2. Where do these parents or guardians come from? They are referred to the store by church members, pastors, community leaders, home health nurses, school counselors, teachers, and community agencies. All parent/guardians come to us by referrals. 3. Where do the NEW toys come from? The toys are given by the 52 churches in the Brunswick Baptist Association and those in the community who want to help. Also, local merchants may give a special discount to the shoppers who shop for the Toy Store. The shoppers use money given to the Toy Store for this purpose. 4. How do the referred parents know they can shop? The are sent letters of invitation. They must reply to the letter to get a date and time to shop. 5. How do they know how many toys they can choose? As toys are given, each one is marked ten cents on the dollar. The ten cents is for self-esteem for the parents. Each parent is told they can spend from $2.50 to $4.50 for each child. These are estimates the amount allowed for each child varies with each year. Younger children have smaller amounts and older children have larger amounts. It is not money; it is self-esteem and salvation. 6. How is the store set up? Tables are set around the wall of a room. Each table represents an age range such as: Birth to Two years old or 8-10 year Old Boys, girls or Teens. Parent/guardians shop from the designated age tables. 7. How many volunteers does a Toy Store take? We need volunteers to receive and mark toys. Volunteers to greet, assist parents/guardians, counselors. 8. Who in the association of churches is involved? Anyone who wants to be. There is a place for everyone. 9. How can I do this? For more information, please contact the Brunswick Baptist Association. LEWIS "Surprised by Joy!: The Life and Work of C.S. Lewis" with Dr. Robert Weathers We will explore how an ardent atheist became the world's most famous Christian author. His works in Christian apologetic have been used to lead many to Christ, his fantasy literature has been read by millions and is credited with laying the foundation for today's fantasy fiction, and his marriage is one of the most famous love stories in Christian history. And yet you may be surprised to learn how little you actually know about this influential Christian! In this threepart study, we will survey his life, focusing especially on how he moved from atheism to Christianity; dig into the content of his most popular writings; and, finally, we will dive into the details of Lewis' Christian apologetic and see how his ideas will help you in your own conversations with unbelievers. Saturday, February 16, 2019, 8:30-Noon. Brunswick Baptist Association, 1041 Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, NC Refreshments provided. Free of charge but registration is required.
