September 9, 2018 Greetings from Pastor Dave I am so glad you are here for worship today. You had many other things you could be doing at this hour and I am glad you made the decision to spend time here with us. Today we begin a new worship series. The series is based on the realization and fact that we are individuals who are conditioned by the culture in which we live. For the next 4 weeks we will have a sermon series with the title: Fake Christianity. We want worship to be authentic and genuine. Likewise, we want/need Christianity to be authentic and genuine as well. We will be looking at some isms. Included in the series will be Consumerism, Meism, and even Practical Atheism. We begin this week with Fake Christianity: Churchism. Today I hope that we together will realize that our faith is in Jesus Christ not in a church. I hope that you will feel that we all need to be rooted in Jesus and not stuck in church religiosity. I also want to challenge us all today to think about the difference between Kingdom issues and church selfpreservation. My hope is that you experience a connection here this morning with God and that you know how much you are loved by Him. I am looking forward to this new series! With the Joy of Christ, Today s Scripture Colossians 2:6-8 CEB Sermon Notes Pastor Dave ALL Ages! ALL In! Loving God! Loving All!

Mission of the Month PHUMC Missions encompasses many different areas that affect our church and our community every day. As a congregational member stated, Missions is our outward motion of our innermost spirit overflowing with love and help for anyone in need. We are blessed when we expect nothing back in return! The Month of September is a time we use all that is raised for missions to give generously to many areas of need, like the upcoming Cuba Mission trip. It was your kindness and generosity that helped to sponsor 15 children to go to camp this year and support a community project directed to help the veterans in our area, when we gave a gift in kind of $1,000 to One Community, not to mention the $2,000 donated to FEAST to help them ensure their doors stayed open. Book Fair volunteers help with decorating and set up, assist students with book selections, help to relocate the Book Fair to a bigger space for Grandparent's Day and help pack up. Volunteers are needed September 21st through 28th. If you have any availability during this time, please call the Westlake office at 727-781-3808. Thanks so much for helping to make this event a huge success!
