Say YES to God s Plan for Married Love is the theme of this year s Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness Week, a national campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to celebrate god s design for married love and the gift of life. NFP is supportive of Catholic belies about married love because it respects the God-given power to love a new human life into being. The dates of the awareness week highlight the anniversary of Pope Paul Vi s encyclical, Humanae Vitae (July 25, 1968) which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love and responsible parenthood. The dates also mark the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. Research has shown that NFP is not only the safest means of family planning (because it is completely natural), it has also been shown to be one of the most effective means by which married couples can effectively plan to have children when they know they are in the best position to provide for them financially and care for them emotionally.
Joyce Jamison has not been with us the past two weekends because she has been spending time with her mother. Joyce sent the following email explaining a decision she has made that will affect our parish. Joyce is the music accompanist for all the Masses this weekend. Her last weekend will be July 22-23. Dear Father Fecko, After much prayer for discernment I believe that it is time for me to resign from my work at Holy Cross-Immaculata. My mother s congestive heart failure is worsening, and I need to have the freedom to spend more time with her. I have many fond memories of the people here in the parish, and I hope to leave on good terms. Thank you for allowing me to serve the parish during your tenure as Pastor. You and the parish will continue to be in my prayers. Sincerely in Christ, Joyce Jamison Women s Prayer Group Summer Schedule 1st & 3rd Monday Meeting 5:30p.m. Mass 6:30p.m. This summer s theme will concentrate on Mary s Magnificat and Fatima for Today as the Church celebrates the 100th anniversary of the apparitions in Fatima, Portugal. Join us every week or just once every so often. Membership is not required. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Jesus Christ.
