Marker, Editor - admarker@comcast.net August 2018 Where has time gone? I think it is true what they say about the older you get the faster time moves. I can not believe that Deb and I have been here for a year already. We just completed our first District Assembly and will soon be heading into our first Family Camp in a few weeks. Though I have lost track of time, I have not lost track of the One that has seen us through this past year of learning, loving and leading. The Lord God has been so very faithful to us in this year and has already blessed us with so many new friends and co-laborers in the Kingdom. Thanks to so many of you that have prayed, sent notes of encouragement and gone out of your way to make us feel at home here on the Pittsburgh District. Please know that Deb and I love each one of you and count it a real joy to be a part of the team working together in this part of His vineyard. As we cross the finish line of this first year, we are already looking forward to what God wants to do in the days ahead. We are confident that as He has blessed in this past year, He will also and in even great ways, bless in the year to come. I am excited about the upcoming Family Camp! We have our former Interim DS, Rev. Dr. Ken Mills, coming to be our evening speaker. I have always enjoyed hearing Dr. Mills speak and look forward to what God wants to say to us in each of the evening services. Also, I am looking forward to having Rev. Dr. Jeff Barker with us for our morning Bible Study. Dr. Barker is a wonderful teacher and speaker and God has already been using him in other district camps to speak to His people. Dr. Barker will also be doing a seminar on Wednesday afternoon for pastors and Saturday morning for everyone in connection to the work he has been doing in regards to Bi-vocational ministry. You will want to be a part of these sessions if at all possible. Along with attending our morning and evening services, which God wants to use to spiritually refresh and renew us, I hope you will take some time to just spend in fellowship getting to know others from around the district. We only have a few opportunities to gather with the whole district family, so let s do our best to get to know each other better. Maybe even be intentional about meeting someone new and getting to know them. Over the years I have developed many deep and helpful friendships around the district that first began at Family Camp. I am looking forward to doing the same thing here on this district beginning this year. There are some changes to Family Camp this year and one of those changes involves the (continued on Page 2) Rev. Because of that I tend to look at things from a safety and security perspective. Also, over the past several years we have seen that churches and church events are not exempt from the dangers that fill our world. I am committed to doing whatever I need to do to make sure our district events, including Family Camp, are as safe as possible for young and old alike. That is why we are asking everyone to register and wear a wrist band during our time together. This will help to easily identify who is part of our program. I do not like wearing wrist bands either, but if that is what it takes to keep everyone safe, including our children, I will do it. Please understand that our goal in all of this is safety. I really appreciate your understanding and am looking forward to seeing all of you at Family Camp. Come for the week. Come for part of the week. Come of a day or even just a service. But whatever you do, COME! Blessings! Pastor Dan
