The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is also prayed every morning after the 8:30 am Mass, Monday through Thursday during the school year and additionally after the 8:30 am Mass on Friday mornings during the summer months. If you cannot be present to pray with us at the parish at these times, simply join in prayer with us spiritually by briefly thinking of our Lord s Passion & Death every day at 3:00pm and especially on Friday s at 3:00pm by simply praying the words, Jesus I Trust in You. Donna Marie Stanislaw EUCHARISTIC ADORATION When we participate in the practice of perpetual adoration, we put ourselves in direct contact with the God of presence and mission. Our action as adorers pales in the face of God s action of infusing us with the spirit of the Devine Being. We are changed dramatically just by being in this living presence and being open to the action of our gracious God. We become instruments of God s peace, mercy, joy, consolation, or courage. The more we celebrate the small miracles of daily life, the more we realize the very personal action of God in our daily living. (from Eucharistic Adoration Reflections in the Franciscan Tradition, Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration) Adoration Hours for the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend will be as follows: For Wednesday 11/22, we will follow our normal Adoration schedule. For Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 11/23 through Saturday 11/25, Adoration will be cancelled. This year, for the Christmas and New Year Holidays, the Adoration schedule will be unaffected as both fall on a Monday. Please prayerfully consider committing to a weekly hour with Our Lord. We are in need of committed Adorers for the following hours: Wednesdays 3pm-4pm; Thursdays noon-1pm, 2pm-3pm, 3pm- 4pm, 4pm-5pm, 5pm-6pm, 10pm-11pm; Fridays 4am-5am, 4pm- 5pm, 7pm-8pm, 8pm-9pm, 9pm-10pm, and Saturdays 3am-4am, 5am-6am. St. John the Evangelist Weekly Bulletin Dear Folks, Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Just this minute I received a very nice call from Deputy Rohrer from the Fauquier Jail. The folks at the jail are allowing St. John s to initiate a weekly religious service. It will take place each Saturday night from 7:00-8:00 PM. As a corporal work of mercy we all need to pray for those imprisoned. May the Lord forgive them for past transgressions and fortify them in the virtues to lead happy, healthy, and holy lives in the future. Let us pray for one another. Sadly, as I was talking to the deputy, a parishioner came to the door and asked prayers for a relative in Scottsdale, Arizona. It seems a poor despondent man snapped and killed his wife and children before taking his own life. What a devastating tragedy. It is the second time such terrible news has come to one of our parish families. God help all as we share the suffering in the world. In the first reading at Mass from Wisdom 2:23, it mentions that God makes us imperishable, but not unbreakable. Many are suffering tremendous crosses of the mind and heart. Let us pray for all the suffering souls in this world. God bless them and keep them close. Starting this weekend, the side doors to the church will be locked for our parishioner s safety. Everyone must enter through the front doors. You may use the side doors to exit the Sanctuary. This Thanksgiving may one and all gather to celebrate our gratitude to God for the wonderful country we call home. God Bless America! Highlights of the Youth Group s trip to Beyer s Stained Glass Studio in Philadelphia with Fr. Gould. They will be creating the last three stained glass windows for our sanctuary. To see more photos of the trip, please go to our new official facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/sje1.org/ Collegiate Answer: In honor of the high school 9-10 grade CCD class currently studying the scriptures, the smallest book in the Bible is that of Obadiah. Collegiate Question: The notion of the Rapture is an Evangelical Protestant theological principle that negates the need for a notion of Purgatory. It was initiated in England and America during the 18-19th centuries. However in the 15th century a Spanish Jesuit initiated the concept in response to the Protestant commentaries on the Book of Revelation. Who was the Jesuit priest? Fr. Gould 4

Fr. Cyrus Gallagher OPLATKI ARE HERE! The oplatki are available at the Parish Office. Proceeds will go to ST. John s Religious Ed. Oplatek is derived from the Latin word oblatum, meaning gift or oblation, and has a Eucharistic connotation. Oplatki (oh-pwaht-kee) are authentic traditional Christmas wafers popular in Polish, Slovak and Lithuanian cultures. Oplatki are baked from pure wheat flour and water and they are embossed with Nativity scenes. The tradition of sharing the Oplatek on Christmas Eve is a wonderful opportunity for families to gather and reconcile any differences, and to remember loved ones who have gone before them. 9
