Composing our Prayer of the Faithful Each week at Mass, after we profess our faith as Catholics, we pray for the needs of the Church, the world, and our local community in the part of the Mass called the Prayer of the Faithful. These prayers are our response to the Word of God proclaimed in the liturgy, as we pray for the Church, civil leaders, ourselves and the salvation of the whole world (General Instruction on the Roman Missal, #70). While general in nature, these intentions should also address the deepest concerns, needs and prayers of the local community, truly the heartfelt prayer of all the faithful. At St. Timothy s, we strive to compose prayers each week that reflect the prayers on the hearts and minds of a wide variety of parishioners. In order to do this, we have teams of lay people who take turns writing these prayers each week. Their contribution is a quiet one, in that these people do not receive public recognition for writing the prayers. Yet it is a contribution that touches each and every person who worships with us each weekend. We are grateful to these individuals who have dedicated time and spirit to the writing of these prayers. We are now in need of a few more people to help fill out this ministry. Would you be interested in helping in this important effort of writing our intercessions for our Prayer of the Faithful? The time commitment is manageable. Individuals would commit to helping out by writing prayers just once a month or once every other month. Training and support will be offered to each of the teams created. If you are interested in helping on this committee, or just want to find out more about how these prayers are composed, please contact Colleen in the office (CNCampion@yahoo.com). We invite you to join us!

Dear friends- A Message From Our Pastor Christmas is literally just around the corner. Hopefully, the church will be filled at each of the five Masses for this feast. Traditionally, the 4pm Mass on Christmas Eve tends to be the most crowded or the last few years it seems to be almost filled by 3:30 and parking is at a premium. The remaining Masses, though full, usually do not fill up quite so early and usually there is sufficient room in the parking lot for all cars. A question that people ask me each year is, Where do all these extra people come from?" In some cases it is our younger parishioners who are home from college; sometimes it is relatives who are visiting for Christmas; sometimes it is the people who do tend to come at Christmas but not so often the rest of the year. With all the extra people, our regular routines might need to be adjusted. Our regular parishioners might not be able to get their regular seat or their usual parking space. A lot of Churches these days would love to have our Christmas problem overflow crowds. Although some change in our regular routine might be necessary, I hope you can join me in realizing that all these people who might be visiting our church for Christmas give us a great opportunity. If we can truly make them feel welcome, if we can really enter into the spirit of Christmas Mass by singing and praying with joy and intensity, if we can do something as simple as move in from the end of a bench or point out the song in the hymnal, then just perhaps that person who is here for the first time might feel so welcomed that they will come again on a more regular basis. Even if one person returns next week and the week after, then that is what I think Jesus would want us to do. Each Christmas and Easter and one additional Sunday during the year, the proceeds of the collection go to support the retired and disabled priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. We all know what a great gift Fr. Emerson is to our parish. Many of the priests who have served this parish in the past are now, like Fr. Emerson, supported by the Christmas collection. You have been most generous to this collection in the past and for that I am most grateful. If you are able to contribute to this collection again this year that is most appreciated. Finally, on behalf of Fr. Emerson, myself, and our parish staff please know what a wonderful group of parishioners you are and what a blessing it is for us to be a part of your lives. I ask God to bless you and your loved ones at Christmas and to be close to you and guide you in the New Year. Fr. Culloty Please join us for our Annual Epiphany Celebration Friday, January 3rd Dinner at 6pm; Pageant at 7pm Join us for a spirit-filled evening of fun, friends, music, carols and a telling of the rich, wonderful stories of the Christmas season. Every year there s at least one surprise twist what will we be up to this year? Our evening begins at 6pm with a pasta dinner downstairs in the parish hall. All are most welcome to join us. We will need to plan accordingly with our caterer, so please sign up in the foyer of the church after Mass this weekend and next (December 28/29). Many are participating in the intergenerational pageant beginning at 7pm in the Church. It s not too late to join! We need kids(5+ yrs.), teens & adults to be part of the this celebration! Dress rehearsal Thursday January 2 nd 5:30-6:30pm Prefer to help out behind the scenes? We still need help with costumes, set-up and clean up, angel herding and sheep wrangling, to name a few. If you re willing to help, we ll find a job for you! Call the office at 781-769-2522 or email Colleen at cncampion@yahoo.com. Prayer to St. Joseph During the Fourth Week of Advent, we hear of Joseph s trusting and faith-filled response to God s call in his life. Inspired by Joseph s example, we offer a prayer in his honor that may lead each of us, as we discern God s call in our own lives. O Great Saint Joseph, you were completely obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Obtain for me the grace to know the state of life that God in His providence has chosen for me. Since my happiness on earth, and perhaps even my final happiness in heaven, depends on this choice, let me not be deceived in making it. Obtain for me the light to know God's will, to carry it out faithfully, and to live the vocation which will lead me to a happy eternity. You won t want to miss this parish event!
