BISHOP S ANNUAL LENTEN APPEAL TO DATE: $147,447.00 THE CHRISM MASS will be celebrated on Monday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m., at St Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg. At this Mass, the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick, and the Sacred Chrism are blessed. At this Mass priests also renew their commitment to service in the Church. There will be two collections on Easter: the first for the regular Sunday collection and the second for the special Easter envelope. Your generosity in these special collections will help us greatly with our financial responsibilities. These are some of the major collections of the year. Regular admission price is $52.95 for Adults, our price is $29.00 - a savings of 45%. Regular admission price for Children ages 3-8 and for Seniors ages 55-69 is $31.95, our price is $24.50. Regular admission for Seniors age 70+ is $20.95, our price is $19.95. Tickets are valid any day the park is open during the regular public season. CHURCH SPRING CLEANING Anyone who can spare some time and elbow grease to help with Spring Cleaning at the Church is asked to meet in the Chapel Lobby after the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Wednesday, March 31. Help with dusting, washing windows, etc., is needed. Bring your buckets and cleaning rags, all necessary supplies will be provided. GOOD HAPPENINGS FROM GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL Seventh and eighth grade students who participated in Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair received the following awards for their entries: First Place--Dominic DeCinti, Megan Berg, Mary Frances Pillion, and Zoe Toigo. Zoe also received the U.S. Navy/U.S. Marines Award; Second Place--Andrew Siemon, Jared Krzywicki, Caitlin McCormack, Jack McLaughlin, Michael Reyes, and Victoria Kusztos. The Engineers Society of Pennsylvania Award was presented to Victoria Kusztos. Additionally, at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Fair, Zoe Toigo received a $50 bond for the 7 th grade High Achievement Award and a First Place. Megan Berg also received a First Place at PJAS. Congratulations! DIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN NEWS The Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will conduct their 85th Annual Convention, April 19, 2010, at the Cardinal Keeler Convention Center in Harrisburg, PA. The cost for the day fee is $25.00, which includes registration for all activities/speakers, lunch and packet. Deadline for the registration is April 10, 2010. A Spiritual Support Group has been started for all people who need or wish to offer spiritual support for loved ones who struggle with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues in their daily lives. Please come join us once a month for a time of prayer and spiritual support for each other as we seek strength through God s Loving Grace in prayer and praise. Jimmy received his Eagle Scout Award in a ceremony held in the Parish Social Hall on March 21, 2010. He is the 73rd Eagle Scout in the troop to achieve this rank. Jimmy has been involved with scouting for twelve years and would like to thank the Knights of Columbus and Good Shepherd Parish for their support of the troop. Teen Disciples for Christ We need host families!!! On April 14-15, we need you to answer the call to house two retreat members from NET Ministries. The Religious Education Office has scheduled a team of young men and women to coordinate a retreat for our 8 th grade students. The team members need a place to sleep and eat breakfast. We have received great reviews from other parishes that have used this team. We need 6 families to volunteer. If interested, please contact Amanda Zechman at azechman@gsschapa.org or 737-8216. Due to Easter, the only meeting in April will be on April 11 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There will not be a Youth Group Meeting on Easter Sunday or April 18 which are our normal meeting nights.
