Dear Parents, This is the last Newsletter for what has been another event-filled and exhausting term. I thank my staff for their continued hard work and professionalism; I thank the students for their didgence and daily smiles and I thank you, the parents, for your work in partnership with us in the interest of your child s eduation. Farewell and Good Luck To Mrs Buckley who leaves us today to go on maternity leave. I thank her for all she has brought to OLA School community and wish her all the very best for the birth of her baby as she and her husband enter into that very special vocation of parenthood. We look forward to meeting baby sometime next term and to Mrs Buckley s return when able. Safe travels Also to Mrs Byrne and Ms Grima who will be attending World Youth Day in Poland. Their trip begins with a stop in the Philippines to work with other pilgrims to rebuild a school and church in a poverty-stricken part of the country that was devastated by earthquake. I am confident both these staff members will return enriched by this experience of pilgrimage and, upon return, will bring to our school community a new depth and presence of God and the Holy Spirit. Safe travels to all other members of our community who will be travelling over the next few weeks. Congratulations To the following students who have received this term s Principal s Award. It was a pleasure to share morning tea with them on Tuesday and have a chat about how their term has been and why they think they received the award. They knew it was because they have been working hard and, most importantly, being kind to others. Sunday 3 rd July 2016: Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (Lk 10:1-9) Your peace will rest upon him. The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them out ahead of him, in pairs, to all the towns and places he himself was to visit. He said to them, The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest. Start off now, but remember, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Carry no purse, no haversack, no sandals. Salute no one on the road. Whatever house you go into, let your first words be, Peace to this house! And if a man of peace lives there, your peace will go and rest on him; if not, it will come back to you. Stay in the same house, taking what food and drink they have to offer, for the labourer deserves his wages; do not move from house to house. Whenever you go into a town where they make you welcome, eat what is set before you. Cure those in it who are sick, and say, The kingdom of God is very near to you. Gospel Reflection Today s gospel passage immediately follows the passage used last week that spelt out the difficulties of discipleship. Having explained how hard it is to be a disciple, Jesus sends his followers out to have a go at being a disciple. When they come back successful He tells them not to be boastful or proud at their achievements but rather to be happy that their names are written in heaven. In other words, anything they accomplished was because they were known by God and that God was working through them. Disciples make themselves known to God and God works through them to accomplish great things! (Liturgy Help-Greg Sunter 1-7-2016) Stage Two Soccer Gala Day Yesterday twenty-two boys and girls from Year 4 represented OLA at the Stage 2 Soccer Gala Day at Jamison Park, Penrith. It was an extremely chilly 1-degree at the start of the day before the sun appeared. Both teams played extremely well and faced tough competition from their opponents. Every student played well and supported their teammates throughout the day. The majority of the games saw both team draw their majority of their games. A special thank you to Mr Sprowles for looking after the boys team. Thank you to all the mums and dads who were there to support the children and who assisted me throughout the day. I was very proud of their sportsmanship and how they represented our school. Miss Grima 2

Last week I represented Mackillop in the PSSA NSW Rugby League trials in Wyong. Mackillop is made up of the Catholic school boys from Sydney to Canberra. I had to go through 2 other trials to get into the Mackillop team so I feel very lucky to be representing Mackillop. I played against boys from all over the state. There were 12 teams in total there competing to be in the NSW team. I played 8 games over 3 days so it was a very hard week of footy. The boys I was playing were very good players and the games were very tough. I gained a lot of experience and confidence from these trials and had a lot of fun meeting new people from all over the state. Thank you to my school for giving me this fantastic opportunity to represent Our Lady of the Angels. Parish Office, 1 Wellgate Avenue, Rouse Hill Ph: 8883 4063 Fax: 9629 7603 Building update You might have noticed that the building is progressing nicely and on time for the expected completion, that is handover and occupancy before the end of the school year. There will be some significant work being carried out over these holidays in the ground floor, Year 3 space. Much cooperation and patience is required when work of this nature is done and I thank the Yr 3 teachers and students for their understanding and for accommodating the necessary restraints. Until next term, have a happy holiday. God bless and stay safe. Eva La Rocca, 5
